Re: two accounts of a former team member

Team,

Our hashtag is being excessively used on the above two twitter accounts. For example: I counted 11 times within a two span of time (roughly 11:00-1:00)

This type of usage can easily generate upwards of 4,000 retweets a day!

Some of you maybe friends with the owner of these account and he is a former member of the team. Please know it is not my intention to disparage him in anyway. This is not personal. It is simply team business.

As some of you are already aware I wrote about this situation in a previous post "Houston, we have a problem" where we discussed what to do if we needed to prevent someone from taking advantage of our auto retweeting. I indicated then that I felt optimistic that the situation could be resolved amicably and I did try...oh did try and my patience has truly been tested but unfortunately this former member and I could not come to an understanding about the importance of 1. limiting the use of the hashtag and 2. retweeting the team.


And now, today...

instead of deescalating his usage, he's doubling down with the second Twitter account.

And his retweets for the team are 1 or 2 here and there, (he's made reference to our #etsymnt tweets being spam. Doesn't make a lot of sense I know...and I'm at my wits end.)

THEREFORE, I will leave it to each of you to DECIDE FOR YOURSELF what you would like to do...it's your twitter that's doing the retweeting...so the choice is yours to make.

You can choose to do any or all of the following:

1. Do nothing, if you want to continue retweeting these accounts.

2. Block thru Roundteam - add @RecycledSalvage @EtsyRecycled to the "not these authors" Filter (see pic attached below)

3. On Twitter: at the person's profiles - "Turn of Retweets" (see pic attached below)

4. You can block then unblock the person - that kicks a person off your twitter w/o permanently blocking them and that will stop roundteam as long as he doesn't refollow you and you don't refollow him.

5. you can block the person permanently and he won't be able to follow you again from these accounts and as long as you don't refollow him you wont post anymore retweets.

You can look at the twitter accounts and see the excessive usage plus the inadequate amount of team retweets in return and judge for yourselves.

@Dorothy re: why he's a former member - b/c I gave up once before and removed him when it seemed like he wasn't trying to cooperate. (the only person I've ever removed) He was very put out so I thought maybe i hadn't shown enough patience. So i tried again.

For a short while recently we had his roundteam working but the for some reason his software for tweeting his listings stopped working. he blamed it on round and our team retweets saying they (our normal 8-13 an hour) we're too much -- spamming (his following) with etsymnt tweets.

At the end of the day...he's okay with getting THOUSANDS of retweets from the team while contributing back just a handful.

When i got him to lower his usage he complained that his view where down (only 1400 a day) He was probably getting 4000+ a day.

and now usage is increasing again...there is big disconnect here and I can't seem to bridge it. Either someone is a team player or their not I guess.

Since informing this person that I would let you all decide for yourselves what to do about retweeting him...he seems to be deescalating but please don't be fooled by this!

Believe me when I tell you he lacks a fundamental understanding of how we operate...the spirit for the team just isn't there.

and he will NOT be added back on the Team!

I unfollowed him on twitter, but roundteam i didn't get the same picture as you posted so I couldn't do anything with that. Is it because it is a free account ?
