#Etsymntt & Retweet Numbers - Our New Normal

Hi Team!

Over the course of the past several months many of us have experienced a steady decline in our retweets numbers. I've seen my own number go from 800-1000 a day down to 450 a day to about 200 a day.

As many of you know we've had our up and downs before and manage to get back on course and I was hoping that would be true once again. However when I did my forensics to see what was happening I found that these lower numbers are actually our new normal.

Below I will give you the simple math of how our retweets works and further down I'll share with you all the things that affect our retweet numbers if you've got time for the details!

Ideally, when all is working correctly, we each should receive about 180-240 retweets a day.

190 is the about the no. of retweets, in a perfect scenario, we each generate in a 24 hour period for the team. 10 retweets per hour (roundteams limit for free acconts) x 24 hour = 240 retweets. The actual number is closer to 8 for most of us while for some it might be as low as 4-5 if their account is set up to retweet other teams or hashtags.

So if 200 of us generate 240 retweets each that's what we each stand to receive in return. That is our retweets be distributed equitably between us. However no system is perfect and their a lot of factors and variable affecting our numbers (see below) but there are somethings we can do to help manage the numbers. Keeping the number of members on our Twitter list below 100 is one thing.

Somethings other things we can do:
1. Use #etsymntt once per hour – so that we don’t generate more than our fair share of about 200 retweets a day
2. Consider only using your roundteam for the team if you have the free account so that you are generating at least 8 retweets an hour for the Team.
3. If your roundteam numbers for the Team are low, around 4-5 an hour consider doing some manual retweets here and there. (remember were talking about retweets you are posting for the Team)
4. Lastly, do check your retweets for the team and if you are posting only 4-5 an hour for the team check your roundteam settings to make sure you have the team settings in place. See here: http://network.etsysocial.com/etsymeetntweet/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2014/10/edit-list-settings.j...

Please keep in mind that the retweet you get from the Team will vary in number from tweet to tweet from 0 to a few to 40 to 100 but it the total for the day that you will want to pay attention to...180-200 is the ballpark.

I think something is wrong. I'm not getting retweets on my own tweets. I went back over the past 24 hours and the most I'm getting is 3 or 4. Any suggestions?

Thanks Clarissa . . . I notice that I go up and down on the retweets, but have to say my Etsy numbers (the ones that count!) show NO real activity from tweeting. I expect low volume sales as my shop is definitely a OOAK and I tend to have less than 60 items in my shop at any given time, but I keep thinking I should see somebody visiting from Twitter. Am I doing something wrong?

I do want to say thanks for all your hard work - it's a big job and I am sure we all appreciate it!

I am not even being auto tweeted regularly let alone retweeted!! Most of my retweets currently are from manual tweets when I renew or list a new product...

Thanks for staying on top of this, Clarissa. You are the best! Yeah, when I look at stats for items which I have in the RT, there are never more than 9 views from the RTs. But they are actual views, which is a good thing. Those inflated zillion of rts a day were not real views. Some of my items have 10s of thousands of views from the old schedule of retweeting. If they were all real views, doncha think that item would have sold? HAHA

Correct.

The first blast of views we received from RT's were spiders reading keywords and such.

That is why I can google my listings and see them, especially in 'image' mode.

My views are down (already read by crawlers) but my sales are not down.

Just saying...... New listings are crucial (IE NEW TWEETS), not 'renews.'

@Patty - Hi Patty, actual click thru from twitter to our shops is going to vary greatly between shops. I know i don't get a high volume of click thrus but some shops do. when i look at my stats for last month I had only 67 actual visits from twitter.

So what if your other team has their own roundteam account, would that still affect how many times I retweet others on this team? Does this affect how many times I will get retweeted? I personally have the free account.

For this info below, is there a quick way to check these stats or do I have to scroll through my feed and count?
