EtsySocial Retweets & Twitter - Important Please Read!

Hi Team!

As some of you are aware there is a new development with regard to our app where some members have had their twitter accounts locked. After taking certain steps they were able to unclock there accounts, however, I have just become aware of an account that may have been temporarily restricted in relation to what's happening.

I believe I have identified what in our retweeting triggered this response from twitter and I have our developer working on resolving the issue!

I expect to hear from him in the next few hours. I'm hoping for good news that this will be an easy fix!

***PLEASE NOTE:****
Those who are getting locked, as a precautionary measure, you may want to deactivate your Auto-Retweets for now. In your EtsySocial Dashboard - on the Auto Retweet Tab - uncheck the "Activate" box.

Please post below if you are encountering any problems.

Hi Bonnie! I understand this is frustrating and finding a way to prevent the lockouts is a top priority.

But it's hard to do when we don't know what specifically needs to be changed. It's complex especially given that not everyone is getting lockedout...so it challenging to understand what exactly is causing the lockouts and why some members who weren't getting locked out before are getting locked out daily now.

I am working with two Team members who are graciously running guided tests to see if we can find the nature of the lockouts. I'm hopeful we will gain some insight.

In the meantime, if you're getting lockedout daily, I think it would be a good idea to temporarily deactivate auto-retweets while we get this figured out.

OK ... right at the moment, I'm not locked out. If I'm locked out tomorow, I'll definitely deactivate the auto-retweets. NO ... maybe I'll do it now! :) Thank you, Clarissa.

Hardly dare say but my views are much better so far today. I haven’t been locked out for weeks since I changed my tweets back to long url instead of tiny url on etsysocial. Dont know if that’s a factor but hey it’s working so far. Just thought I’d mention.

I had not been locked out for many months; I was using only Buffer for my #etsymntt tweets. As soon as I automated my Etsy Social Tweets—locked out. I experimented by trimming the number of tweets way back, locked out again. As soon as I unchecked Automate in EtsySocial, no more lockouts.

Some days, recently, I would have only about 2 Tweets with roughly 20 RTs each. Some days nothing. My views and sales have suffered badly for months, since the team RT function went sideways.

Sue are you saying that you got locked out when you turned on the "Auto-Tweeting" feature that posts your #etsymntt tweets to twitter?

It's 2:30 a.m. ... and I just found out that I am LOCKED OUT AGAIN ... EVEN THOUGH I UNCHECKED AUTO TWEETS AND RETWEETS YESTERDAY. WHY!!!!??? I am not even going to fool with it now. Will do so in the morning. THIS IS UNREAL!!!!!!!!!!!

I find that I have been locked out every night for the past two weeks when my auto tweets were somewhat working again. I have to reauthorize twitter every morning to have access again.

Maybe when it reaches a certain quota of auto tweets, it locks people out of twitter so as not to spam? Twitter seems to recognize it as spam.

I'm also wondering if people who are not on this team are getting spammed by our tweets in their accts and getting annoyed and is complaining about it to twitter which is why something is being done about it? Just wondering and putting it out there.....

Suddenly I am getting locked out daily. At this point, I am afraid that if this keeps up Twitter may lock my account permanently.

I just checked and I am locked out AGAIN today too! This has occurred every day, sometimes twice a day, for almost 2 weeks now! I checked my EtsySocial settings, and today, there have no no gremlins rechecking my automation boxes ... they remain empty. So ... I am being locked out apparently by retweets by others ... not sure. I just called Clarissa, and she helped me revoke my authorization to EtsySocial ... to see if that will have an effect on my daily lockouts. My only tweeting (of myself) is TwitterFu, which is once an hour. This is maddening to try to figure out.

Clarissa - Yes I get locked out only when I check auto RT in Etsy social. I am back to using only my Buffer tweets with our #.

Actually, I think I’m still auto tweeting from ES. Just not allowing RTs. I’ll have to log in on laptop to check that. Not tonight😊

I don't know of any automation to do that on TweetDeck (maybe I am wrong?). Since I've now separated myself, with Clarissa's help, from EtsySocial ... I just now went on TweetDeck and manually retweeted some of you, my sweet Teamies, I do this by going to my "Notifications" column and finding a recent retweet by a team member ... I click on their name which takes me to a place where I can see their Tweet list, Followers, Following, etc. I click on "Tweets" ... and then I can see all of them by scrolling down. Many are retweets, so I keep scrolling till I find a tweet by the person that I am trying to help.

SO ... now that I am so frightened by all my lockouts, I will be retweeting you manually. I actually kind of like it, because when I do so, it is actually me, talking to you, looking at your product ... very personal, one-on-one. I am afraid to do very many at one time, which again might get me into trouble. PLEASE ... when you are retweeting, those of you that are doing it manually, please intersperse one of YOUR tweets after every five or so retweets so that I can retweet YOU more easily so that I don't have to scroll down endlessly. I know that this isn't as efficient as our automated retweeting, but at least it's very personal ... it's really ME! :)

QUESTION? Abour 5 or so minutes ago I checked my shop STATS, and I was told that I had 40 views. I just now went and looked again and I was told that I had 15! How could they go down? No, these were not yesterday's numbers; those were totally different. This is NOT the first time that this has happened to me. I am totally confused by this. Has this happened to any of you? PUZZLED!

Bonnie, I have found my view numbers go down later in the day a few times. I am guessing that they give us instantaneous view data and then correct it.

Bonnie I have been doing the same using #etsymnttM (the extra M on the end standing for manual) I also do this on tweetdeck ... under @swirlingorangeE I am happy to retweet anyone manually using this hashtag so I know they are part of the team!

Yes my views and visits on Etsy go down during the day too which doesn't make sense but what does these days?

I have not been locked out since I inactivated my autotweets and retweets from EtsySocial last week. Don't understand this either. My subscription is paid till the end of Sept. 2018.

I do manual retweets and am also using the #etsymnttM hashtag.

Yes, I've been retweeting you, Lisa, from my Notifications column on TweetDeck where I see the retweets that you all have done for me. I've been using something that I really like, that I don't remember before. I can click on your retweet, find one of YOUR tweets from there, click on a button that shows that it is me writing to you,which shows my photo, and I can write to you directly, commenting on your tweeted product that I am retweeting, which is plainly shown below what I am writing. It is really neat! I can comment on your tweeted product, and people will SEE what I am referring to. They can see my comment about YOUR product, which I am saying something nice about. It makes my retweet of your product a real sales pitch .. something really personal ... me talking to you. I was away today, but I've done this to many of you over the past few days. I kind of like it. Also, it gives me a chance to look at your products. I think this must be a new function on TweetDeck; whatever, I really like it.
