EtsySocial Retweets & Twitter - Important Please Read!

Hi Team!

As some of you are aware there is a new development with regard to our app where some members have had their twitter accounts locked. After taking certain steps they were able to unclock there accounts, however, I have just become aware of an account that may have been temporarily restricted in relation to what's happening.

I believe I have identified what in our retweeting triggered this response from twitter and I have our developer working on resolving the issue!

I expect to hear from him in the next few hours. I'm hoping for good news that this will be an easy fix!

***PLEASE NOTE:****
Those who are getting locked, as a precautionary measure, you may want to deactivate your Auto-Retweets for now. In your EtsySocial Dashboard - on the Auto Retweet Tab - uncheck the "Activate" box.

I was locked out of Twitter again this morning. Again, just had to click "I'm not a robot," however, I wonder if other retweet groups are having the same issues.

When I checked my tweets and retweets this morning everything posted. I didn't have any "failed" tweets.

I hope this can be resolved. Retweets really help with visits and views on Etsy.

got this yesterday. I am really doubting everything I am doing on Etsy to try to promote my shop - seems like exterior promotion is working best these days... but my question is does this email refer directly to any retweeting I might get from you?

EtsySocial needs your authorization to access your twitter account in order to tweet and/or retweet on your behalf. Although you provided that permission before, it expires after a time and needs to be renewed.

Here is what you need to do:
1. log into EtsySocial and log in then:
2. go to the autotweet tab
3. click on change twitter account button which will take you to a twitter page
4. click of the blue authorize button and you are done.

I have been adding #etsymnttM and retweeting anyone who does and adding them to a list ... Please post your twitter name if you wish to be retweeted. I was locked out as well. Bonnie I requested an immediate response from twitter and they took three days to email, how'd you get called LOLYOU ARE SPECIAL.

@Yona that only works for 24 hours then you get locked out again .. there is a glitch. What is your twitter name with the @ I could not find it last week.

Well, I was locked out again. About 6 of my scheduled posts failed. I have been able to reconnect, however, I've unchecked the retweet function of Etsy Social until we receive a little more info about why this is happening. I'll continue to manually retweet as many of you as I can.

I've added a stream in Hoottsuite for #etsymnttm

I'll manually retweet those on that stream as well as my manual retweets stream that was set up a few months ago.

When I tried just now to log into my Twitter account, via TweetDeck, I found that I was AGAIN locked out. My "token" had expired on EtsySocial yesterday, and somehow I just KNEW that renewing it would cause me a LOCKOUT. I usually use Internet Explorer. When I took the "robot" test just now, I would pass it, but then the test would start all over AGAIN ... just like it did on Sunday night ... ENDLESSLY! One of you suggested that I try the robot test on Firefox if this problem should arise again. So I went to Firefox, clicked through the pictures, and was then automatically let back into my account! But ... WHY is this happening! I have never been locked out before ... EVER ... until last Sunday night. Now this is happening every other day!

Curiouser and curiouser my auto tweets are working and I am auto retweeting you but now I am not being retweeted since 7 hours ago! So back to square one!!! Very low visits and views. I am busy tweeting with #etsymnttM. It's so frustrating as we've all paid for this service.

Clarissa, it's not unfair to ask for resolution. At this stage several months later, we should be getting results or refunds.

I know that this is frustrating to have these ups and downs but we are building something here and that's takes something.

I know you all have paid for the service and I appreciate that. It helps to underwrite the costs but anyone who is feeling badly that they've paid are welcome to request a refund.

These Twitter lockouts have had an escalating affect on our retweets. They cause the twitter tokens to expire which halts the posting of tweet/retweets to member twitter accounts...which in turns means lets retweets for everyone.

Are the lockouts cause by our app? yes and no.

No in that we are following the rules of twitter. Automated retweets is allowed on twitter.

Yes in that we are getting caught up in their heightened effort to identify and shutdown fake AUTOMATED Twitter accounts for spamming...accounts that are created and run by robotics.

It could be that there is nothing we can do. It may be that whatever Twitter changed has to be resolved from their end.

I am troubleshooting ways to fall under their more stringent radar. I'm having the number of retweets we each post an our lowered from 10 to 6 with a minimum interval of 9 mins apart instead of the current 5 mins. This will make the average number of retweets for the day we should look to receiver approx. 144.

If anyone who is getting locked out is willing to help troubleshoot by testing out various scenarios please let me know and I will tell you what I would like you to try.

Also an email is being sent to members whose twitter tokens are expired asking them to reauthorize their twitters so that we can resume posting to their twitters.

Ultimately, it would be good for us to build our own thing and not be dependent up twitter or pinterest or etsy for traffick to our shop. And right not relying on retweeting is like having all our eggs in one basket.

I am moving forward on us having our own platform where we have full access to the traffic. We have to think bigger Team and I truly believe that with all of us working together anything is possible!

For what it's worth: I have been getting locked out every night between 9-10pm CST. I'm working with Clarissa as her "guinea pig" to try out different things to see if we can figure out why this is all happening. This may take a few more days to figure out the solution, so please hang in there.

LOCKED OUT again today! Couldn't get back in with Internet Explorer ... had to do the test with Firefox.
