I grew up hunting. Starting when I was 6 or 7 I was able to bring home some grouse for dinner. My parents raised my siblings and I on hunted meat – mostly moose but some caribou, salmon, halibut, whale and other game.
I would hope that even non-hunters and vegetarians realize that whatever they are eating or wearing was life. It is important to respect our food, be it plant or animal especially because for us to survive we require the giving up of life of something else.
kitschnstitchin is right about it being hard to take a life - but personally I think it is good to feel that guilt because it is important to respect the life that is taken, whether a hunter, rancher, farmer or somebody else takes the life, if we consume it, then it deserves our respect.
Some people may say not so nice things about synthetics - but consider the fact that even oil was life at some point in time.
