Etsy SEO education program

This thread is to give people in our team who wish to or have already signed to participate in our Etsy education for new and experienced shop owners.

This is a follow on to the last Etsy France education package. We are offering anyone in the team the opportunity for extra education regarding SEO (search engine optimisation), Tags and useful tips.

It will be run the same as last program with teams and interactive modules.
We had a fabulous response last time and the positive feedback was overwhelming.

I will of course send a personal email to all who have supplied their address if no response from you within 10 days of posting.

Some of you are possibly challenged by computers and I will help personally if needed, just ask.

I am assuming everyone is at beginner level for Etsy but will not slow the pace for experienced members--again let me know.

Hi Guy,
There's a table in page 8 of SEO Partner guide. At the bottom there are 3 of :

1-MOST VIEWED LISTINGS

2-LISTINGS MOST OFTEN ADDED TO FAVOURITES

3-LISTINGS MOST OFTEN ADDED TO TREASURIES

How can we find items 2 and 3 from statics from Etsy?
There is no stats for 2&3 in our Etsy dashboard.
I appreciate and help.

Hey guys,

I found No.1 and No.2 where is coming.
No.1 coming from "Pages Viewed ?" in Shop Stats.
No.2 coming from "Listing Favourites ?" in Shop Stats.
However I couldn't find out No.3 where is coming from!
Any comments appreciated.

I rec to calculate two more valuable indicators for your shop stats:
1 - Average views per Day = Views/Days
2 - Average favorites per Day = Favorites/Days
So you can set on your goals for increasing these indicators.

I can't work out how to find which items have been treasured either - it says at the bottom of the stats page but I can't find it there. It would be v useful to know!

It does mean an item with good views/favorites but no sale, something wrong about high price or something else?

I like your suggestion of the additional stats :

"1 - Average views per Day = Views/Days
2 - Average favorites per Day = Favorites/Days"

I'm not sure how to increase these tho, would love to hear your plan to increase yours :)

I think we need to differentiate views by Etsy shop owners and Etsy buyers(visitors who has no shop in Etsy). The former has value. What do you think guys?

Hi Team,
Please accept my apologies for not getting back, big market coming up in Sydney on the 11th and so much to do.

Maani has asked a good question about listing statistics.

Listing views can be seen by clicking on the "shop Stats' button, you will see a brief description of views, favourites orders and revenue. then by scrolling down until you reach the table that says Listing favourites.
The item at the top is the most viewed, the next down the second and so on.

Treasured items is a little more complicated.
Click on the first most popular and another screen opens with a table with tabs showing graphs of Views, favourites and treasuries. The item will read 1 if chosen to be treasured by one person, 2 if by two and so on.

For those of you who want more information on listings historically over 12 months or more I have yet to find info more than 30 days back.

I will keep looking and see what is available.
Please keep in mind however that most statistics in Etsy appears trackable only through sales or someone placing a favourite on that item shop or page.
If you are more heavily into statistics you need to manually enter this info into a custom made database.

The "value " of an Etsy shop owner to an outside viewer is moot if they do not buy.
You can never tell who will be a customer until a transaction takes place.

For Belinda,
The only way I see to increase views and ultimately sales is hard and diligent work.
It depends on your and your shops circumstances. The majority of Etsy members may be hobby shops who love the social contact through to dedicated professionals who run a very tight business.
Where you sit in that broad spectrum will dictate how much energy you apply.

The first step by most new people is to recognise their market.
The second is to offer their product in the best possible way to that market
The third is to attract that person to stay and "look" through your shop.
But the most important step is feedback (also the hardest to obtain) When you make sale ALWAYS offer a feedback opportunity, ask the question that must attract an answer.

This program is only a small insight into perfecting those 3 steps.
Take the program slowly and apply all steps while taking note and attracting feedback from your partner. Mostly do not despair at the lack of comments in these threads as not everyone is as passionate about their shop!

Also be aware that a lot of early day members in Etsy had minimal competition on search engines. Today a similar search done in 2009 will attract millions more tags to dissect.

Just a quick tip for finding stats on items.
Click listings Manager from your shop name drop down menu.
If you check each item there will be a small graph logo (three vertical bars) near the ones that have been viewed in the last 30 days showing views favourites and treasuries the item has been included in.
Again though only relevant to the last 30 days.
