Re: Want to be interviewed and feature your shop?

1) I am a designer and seamstress with a passion for using reclaimed, recycled, up-cycled and vintage materials. I think clothing should be fun and communicate what the wearer is feeling. My biggest obstacle is having too many ideas but sometimes that comes in handy!
I am a dancer, a wife and new Mama and I love being all three!

2) My shop is still forming but I want it to be a whimsical adventure with accessible fashion for women who want classic yet unique options. It features handmade items made with up-cycled, recycled, reclaimed, re-purposed and vintage materials.

3) I find my inspiration from everywhere; old classic movies, actresses like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly with their effortless beauty and grace, vintage patterns and styling, vintage material, the outdoors, pretty much anything beautiful inspires me!

4) I opened my shop a little less than a month ago and felt that it went well, but I would like to find a way to promote it better and be found by customers. I did make a sale right away which was encouraging and Etsy does have some great tips out there.

5) My favorite item is almost always the current project that I am working on, but of my finished products I think either my floral dress with the yellow buttons or the reversible, ballet neck pillowcase top would have to be my favorite so far.

6) I would like to begin to coordinate colors and styles with season better and offer more made to order pieces.

7) Space out your postings to one every few days to keep your shop popping up on the main page and make sure to utilize social media. Do what you love!

8) I really love right where I am in Eugene Oregon, but something about Greece fascinates me!

Your name // shop address // website or email
Brandie Mansfield//www.dreamcustomartwork.blogspot.com//brandie_bc1@yahoo.com//http://www.etsy.com/shop/dreamcustomartwork?ref=si_shop

1) Tell us a little about yourself I am a busy mom of two/teacher/artist who loves to paint in what precious little free time I have. I'm born and raised in Tennessee so even though I love to travel the world, I always have a little Souther flair!

2) Tell us a little about your shop On this blog you will find custom created pieces of art to decorate your home and enrich your life. Use the photos to get ideas for your creation, but feel free to suggest new and original ideas as well! I want each piece to be a little treasure just for you! To place an order or if you have questions, please email me anytime!

3) How/Where do you find your inspirations for your designs? Inspiration comes from everywhere...other artists, travels, the logo on the cereal box...who knows?!

4) When did you open your shop and how was the startup process? My blog has been up and running for five years now. It all started when a friend asked me to paint a canvas as a gift. People at the baby shower saw it and...boom! Dream Custom Artwork was born! It has grown every year since and really took off when I added an etsy store.

5) What is your favorite item that you’ve made ? I love all of the baby canvases. The mom are always so excited! The wedding art is pretty special, too.

6) What do you plan to do in the future with this shop? I plan to keep doing what I'm doing...I love it! I am hoping to make time for some more personal projects.

7) What advice would you give to start-up shops? If you start slow, don't give up. Let it build over time. Also, be sure it is something you love because you may be doing it A LOT!!

8) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? I would love to live near the beach...maybe on the Florida panhandle. Away from home, but not too far!

Re: Want to be interviewed and feature your shop?

Hello everyone,

I would love to be a part of this as well. My shop is only a few days old, but has been in my head for years. Thanks for your help promoting my script scarves!

Your name // shop address // website or email
Farrell of Quotation Marks Etsy!
quotationmarks.etsy.com
quotationmarks1@gmail.com

1) Tell us a little about yourself:

My name is Farrell and I have always been a bit of a secret bookworm. As I've grown older, I've also started to love the world of fashion. The script scarf is the perfect convergence of my two loves- with the script scarf, I can literally wrap myself up in my favorite words.

2) Tell us a little about your shop

l had always been on the hunt for the perfect gift: personal, articulate, and beautiful.

After years of searching, I decided to make it myself! For each friend, I hand selected the perfect quote and the perfect color, and using the cursive my teachers had always promised would come in handy, I wrote the quotes on the softest scarves in the world.

The script scarf was born. And with it, an idea. Soon, everyone wanted one for their friends or their family.

3) How/Where do you find your inspirations for your designs?

My favorite books, my favorite songs, my favorite quotes- they all inspire me. I try to post a quote a day on my blog (http://quotationmarksetsy.wordpress.com/) and it means that I am always searching for the perfect quotes for my scarves!

4) When did you open your shop and how was the startup process?

The shop just opened 3 days ago, and the process has been a lot of fun. I have loved seeing my friends and family jump on board, excited for me to get started. I can't wait for strangers to become new friends- every time I make a scarf, I can't help but bond with the person I am making it for.

5) What is your favorite item that you’ve made ?

My favorite item is the Little Darling script scarf (https://www.etsy.com/listing/101913406/the-little-darling-script-scarf). It is a scarf with yellow lettering and the words from "Here Comes the Sun." It makes me ridiculously happy every time I wear it!

6) What do you plan to do in the future with this shop?

Everyone has hopes and dreams for their store, and Quotation Marks is no exception. I would love to have people seek the store out for bridesmaids gifts, Christmas presents, and one of a kind accessories.

7) What advice would you give to start-up shops?

Take your time opening your shop. Take pictures, talk about ideas with friends, and save money. If the shop is well thought out (packaging, supplies, business cards, etc.), it will be very satisfying to officially open your shop and taking orders.

8) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

My husband and I have a list of places to live someday- New Zealand is at the very top! The only problem is that I love my family and would miss them too much if I moved, so for right now, if I could live anywhere in the world, it would be right here in Boston :).

Re: Want to be interviewed and feature your shop?

1)I'm a 26 years old girl from Thessaloniki-Greece. I'm a jewellery designer and fashion blogger. I'm obsessed with jewellery desing as well as styling.
Love art, fashion, swing dance, cooking, vintage stuff, travels and many more.
2) Here you can fond handmade jewellery made of semiprecious stones, lace, rubber and vintage elements. I love to make extreme statement necklaces combininb neon colors with vintage materials. Everything in my shop is absolutely unique and one of a kind, just like the women who wear them.
3) I really believe that inspiration is everywhere! From art, fashion, street style to nature, people, travels and everyday life.
4) I have had my shop almost a year, but was inactive all the time cause of the lack of time and it's been almost a month since i restarted it. So from the day i restarted i've made 7 sales. i believe that it's going good enough and hope for much better in the future.
5) It's so hard to answer. I love all my babies. The only thing that is obvious is that i love statement necklaces.
6) Firstly i hope to have time, so i can be really active, secondly to fix some things, just like photography e.t.c. and at the end hope to be a famous jewellery designer! hahahah! yeah! big plans!
7) Oh! so many! I had no idea when i first opened my shop, how many things you have to do, to get a little bit known out there. So some to do's are: good photos, cohesiveness, many tags and key words, make treasuries, be active in foroums and teams, add new items and many many more.
8) Surely not here, in Greece. I love cold weather, rock music and i have nothing in common with the most of Greek people. So maybe in Amsterdam cause it's a city that really inspires me. Maybe in London cause it's the absolut fashion city. Or maybe in Spain cause i speak Spanish.

Re: Want to be interviewed and feature your shop?

Tanya// http://www.etsy.com/shop/babyducksoapco // www.facebook.com/BabyDuckSoapCo

1. I'm a wife, mommy to a 19 month old boy and soap maker. Before Liam was born my whole life was centered around work. I worked 6 day work weeks, averaging 65 hours per week. When Liam came along, we quickly found out that my salary just barely covered the cost of daycare so we decided that I would stay home with the baby. Best. Decision. Ever! It allowed me time to bond with my son and develop my craft. So many friends and relatives kept saying that I could sell my soap... Hence the birth of Baby Duck Soap Co. (btw, Liam's nickname is baby duck so I thought that would be a perfect shop name!)

2. I offer cold process soap, decorative glycerin soap, whipped body butters, lip butters and sugar scrub cubes. All of my products are handmade by me, and do not contain parabens or SLS.

3. I draw my inspirations from everywhere! The seasons are a huge help. I always make soap scented in accordance to whatever season we're experiencing. Everything from paint chips, to smells at the farmer's market gets my creative juices flowing!

4. I opened just a few days ago (August 3, 2012). I made sure to read the Etsy Seller Handbook virtual cover to virtual cover in preparation. I've had a few sales so far and learned about shipping the hard way! I'm still learning the ins and outs of that!

5. Soaping is an addiction. One night I was itching to make a loaf of soap but I was running very low on supplies. I pooled all of my oils, butters and essential oils together and created my Lemongrass, Sweet Orange and Cedarwood bar. So far, it's been my best seller (online and locally) and the most favorites item in the shop. :) it's also really beautiful and smells amazing!!

6. I'm looking to expand the shop to include a pet line, a baby line and custom gift baskets. I'm very active on my Facebook page and love to get my fans involved in the process. If they want a certaiin product or scent, I do my very best to ensure that happens!

7. Advice for startups: Research and Connect!!
Before opening, I read everything I could find in regards to opening my shop. I joined Etsy teams, read the Seller Handbook and visited numerous blogs to feel ready enough to make this step. Part of researching is also offering the very best product that I can. I read either a blog post or book, watch a YouTube video or share ideas with my fellow soapers on a daily basis. I'm always fine tuning and improving my craft!
Connecting is another bit of indispensable advice. Before I opened my shop, I created a business Facebook page and got a lot of buzz going prior to opening. People love to see your process, your product and your personality! I've also linked my shop to Pinterest, joined a variety of Etsy teams and joined a soaping specific Facebook group.

8. I've lived all over the U.S. and have only one city I would return to in a heartbeat and that's: Park City, UT. Gorgeous scenery, sweet people and dry winters filled with powdery snow! You have the mountains in Park City and the desert in Moab. The hiking, biking, camping and skiing are incredible and can't be beat!
