Select your 3 items for category browse!

Jump to solution
Great news! We pushed a change today that will impact which items are displayed next to each seller’s name when viewing a browse category.

Having the ability to select which items represent your brand has been one of the most frequently requested features. We know how important first impressions are, so our engineers created a solution that will give you more control over which three items appear next to your name when a buyer views a top level category.

We will now display the first three items in your linesheet, as set by the linesheet positions. If you have not set specific linesheet positions when editing/creating a product, the display results will default to the most recently added products in that category.

To set linesheet positions, edit an existing product from your linesheet manager. Toward the bottom of the “Edit Product” page you will see a field for “Linesheet position”. Please note that after you set the linesheet position for the three items you want to display (positions 1, 2, 3), the update may take up to an hour to impact the browse results.

As part of this release, we have also changed the default sort of your linesheet to newest items first. You can always change the order of how products are displayed by using the linesheet position field. We know editing each individual listing can be time consuming and we have great linesheet organization tools on the way, but we wanted to give you this option asap!

Please let me know if there are any questions or if you need any help setting your linesheet positions. Here is an FAQ with more info:

And is there anyway to change the order of what shows when someone has favourited you and you can see the first few listings?

I rearranged my store to change the first listings in 1, 2, 3, but it's still coming up as the 4 latest additions to the shop?
Thank you.

That's great to have that feature- thanks! Do you think it will ever become as easy as highlighting the star on our Etsy listings, and dragging and dropping?

YES! Organizing your linesheet will get much easier. We have great tools on the way but are not launching any big changes to your current tool set during the February buying season. Thanks for your patience!

Hi there - I see the correct three items (the items set to linesheet positions #1,2,3) displayed in the Accessories browse segment. I have sent you a convo with a screen shot. Please let me know if there are any questions.

Maybe I am reading this incorrectly, but my representative browse items are not coming up from my line sheet positions 1, 2, and 3. I have had the items set this way for while. I am not sure what it is picking up except that one item is newly listed and the two others are various, previous listings.

Hi Sonia, I still have 11, 6, and (a different) 11 coming up under a "pottery" search.

Hi Julia,

This change only impacts the items that appear for browse categories - so when a buyer views the Home & Living category.

Results for searches on key words such as "pottery" are based on the Etsy search algorithm and can not be pre-selected.
