Minimum Order Quantity with Size Variations?

Hi everyone,

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but trying to figure out how the minimum order quantity feature (per item) works if you have size variations - i.e. - small, medium, large, xl. If I set the minimum order qty to 4, would the buyer have to order 4 of each size, or would they just have to get 4 of any size? I'm a bit confused about this...

I'm a bit confused about it too. I think it's the first way, so I've put 1 as minimum quantity, but the second option would be much better!

Thanks for your questions on this.

If you have a minimum order quantity, a buyer would have to purchase that minimum quantity in one variation in order to be able to add it to the PO. In this particular example, I (as the buyer) would have to buy a minimum of 4 of each size to be able to add it to the PO.

I'll pass along the suggestion to consider updating this feature so it might be more helpful for buyers. If you think of anything else, let us know!

There are no updates to this feature but we have recorded your feedback. In the meantime, you are welcome add a line to your item listings that lets buyers know they can mix and match sizes by adding a note to the PO. Once you receive the PO, you can adjust on your end.

I hand dye pillows and ask for a minimum of two per colorway but any size. I had to put a minimum of one and hope they read my description and info thoroughly.

Thank you all, this has answered my questions...and I agree, it would be helpful if we could set the min QTY, and anyone signed in as a wholesale buyer could fill the min by choosing X qty in each size.

That is a standard for buying, typically you would order a full size run.

I am thinking of ways I can manipulate the current system to make it work...such as adding a line to my size variations called "multi size/full size run'...or "Equal QTY full size run"

Or maybe "Multi For full size run"...so that it indicates that if they order the min of 8, they will not be getting 8 full size runs, but two in each size

"WHSL create size run" - does fit the 20 character field for variations. I assume if people are shop owners, they should know what that means?

I would also like this feature. I sell singles and boxed sets of my cards with different minimum quantities for each. For example: my "Gold Hearts" card comes as singles with a 6pc minimum or as a boxed set with a 4 pc minimum. Right now I have to set a minimum so it is set at 4, which covers the boxed set, but then that's not meeting the singles minimum. I have 15 or so boxed variations in my collection, so creating separate listings is an option but it just seems confusing for the buyer and would clutter up my linesheet. I can't imagine how it would be for those who offer more! It would be great if there were a spot to enter the minimum per variation along with the variation's info (options/price/whlsl price). Just my two cents :)

My current quantity minimums are 6 per design, however metal variations can make up the minimum. i.e: 2 x copper, 2 x brass, 1 x nickel and 1 x sterling silver is acceptable. However as it stands, (and I just recently learned) that my clients have to purchase 6 x of each metal if I set my quantity minimum to 6.... which is too much for small boutiques. I've got a lot of listing editing ahead of me... ouch!

Having good variation options for buyers enables them to have variation on their shelves. This feature will be advantageous to both makers and buyers!

I screenprint tshirts and baby onesies - which come in different sizes. I had my minimum set at 2 thinking buyers would buy 2 of each size - totaling 6 or 8. But a lot of buyers were just buying 2 of one size. So I was setting up my screen just to print 2 onesies. Even though I had a disclaimer in several places saying buyers should be ordering a minimum of 6 per design, most of them ignored it or didn't see it. I ended up taking out the sizing variation and changed my minimum to 6. I indicated in the listing for buyers to tell me which sizes they'd like, or I'd choose for them with more quantities of the most popular sizes. It's still not the perfect solution. I like to leave the least amount of work for the buyer to place an order. I like to eliminate all of the back and forth because waiting for a buyer to respond can sometimes delay their order. All of that to say - I'd also like to set minimums per variation :) And if we could do something similar on the retail side where you can list different quantities for each variation - For example if I have 3 small tshirts in stock and 4 medium tshirts in stock, I'd like to be able to set different quantities for different sizes.
