Help with minimums

Jump to solution
Any word on forcing people to hit the minimum? Our Etsy wholesale orders are coming in at a far below average total sale. And a lot of people aren't hitting the minimum (which is only $150). This creates a negative customer service experience for them when they go to the trouble to place an order, only to have us reject it. We do need to stick to our minimums, but we hate having awkward conversations with these buyers.

Thanks!

We do have a feature that notifies a buyer if they are trying to submit an order that does not meet your minimum.

If the buyer tries to submit an order, either a first time or re-order, and the total dollar amount is less than the minimum stated in the seller's policies, the buyer will receive a pop-up warning.

We do state that the vendor may or may not accept the order if it is sent as is.
The buyer can choose to add more products to the order, or submit it anyway.

The idea here is that we do not want to prevent orders from going through entirely since it is up to the seller to decide if they want to be flexible.

I have minimums as well, but I have found the best way to have a new customer become a repeat customer is to be very flexible on the first order.

Most of my accounts are small shops who deal with dozens of vendors. They are taking a chance on me, so to force a minimum doesn't seem prudent.

I've had stores spend only $100.00 and then come back and spend $500-600 on the next order.

Cash flow and a concern your items may not sell is why a buyer wants a smaller opening order, it's up to you if you want to court that business or not.
