Buyer unable to submit payment in invoice

Hi Everyone,

I am having a little problem with one of my wholesale orders and I would appreciate some help - especially if anyone here has been a buyer on Etsy Wholesale.

One of my customers has placed an order, I reviewed the order, accepted it and then sent them an invoice. Unfortunately the buyer has advised that they can't make a payment as there isn't anywhere on the invoice for the buyer to click to make a payment. For example, no "submit payment" button etc. The buyer would like to make payment using a credit card (and my store accepts payments by credit card).

Just wondering what the issue may be? I would love to help them out but I am unable to see what Etsy Wholesale for buyers looks like.

Did they by chance choose PayPal as their payment option? If they chose PP, it will say PP on the order...if they chose to pay through Etsy DC, then you will see credit card icons on the order. If they chose PP, you will have to send it manually through PP.

They selected credit card in the order... I wish Etsy had some payment instructions for Wholesale Buyers.

If you see the credit card icons on the order (and not PayPal), you can send them the url to the invoice so they can pay it that way.

Not sure why it's not giving them an option to pay from the invoice email. The only thing I can think of, is that they chose a different method to pay (other than direct checkout) or there is a bug of some sort.

Ps....I include payment instructions in my initial email/message to the buyer when I accept the order. I think that helps them know what to expect.

Hi all!

I'm just popping in to specify that there are two types of credit card payment methods available for buyers and sellers to choose from.

Direct Checkout is the payment processing method available directly on Etsy. A buyer would submit their credit card information to Etsy, Etsy charges the fee, and then deposits the money into a seller's Shop Payment Account. Direct Checkout is also the only payment method integrated on the Wholesale platform, so it's the only way a buyer can submit payment directly to Etsy. This option will specifically say "Credit Cards through Direct Checkout".

If you (or your buyer) choose "Credit Card", this is intended if the seller has their own method for accepting credit card payments, as in running the card info through a third party like Square or Stripe. This option will only say "Credit Card", and doesn't offer buyers a way to pay for their order through Etsy.

If you have additional payment methods offered in your Wholesale policies, you can change the payment method on this PO, or you can simply send a PayPal invoice and mark the order as paid after receiving payment. If you need help with either of these options, please feel free to Convo me or send an email at wholesalesupport@etsy.com with the PO number so I can take a look for you.

Hi everyone, I received my first Wholesale order yesterday, and I have it ready to ship, but I'm unable to send an invoice. I keep getting an error message "Sorry, we've had a problem saving your changes. Please try again. If the problem continues, please contact support at wholesalesupport@etsy. (I've already sent 2 messages and a tweet, but nothing) I'm afraid I'm going to lose the sale if I don't get this invoice out and the merchandise shipped soon.

Any ideas? I can't find any answers :(

Maybe a glitch? Since you have already tried contacting EW....
For a work-around if you and your buyer are agreeable to this...and, not sure which payment method they have selected...but, are you able to go in and change the payment method to PayPal? Maybe send them a PP invoice just to keep it moving forward on time.

Before you do all of that, try clearing your browser cache and try again.

Maybe others have some suggestions as well.

Thanks, I tried clearing the browser cache, using different browsers, even different computers. They selected CC checkout, I even tried changing to PayPal and nothing.

I offered to send a PayPal invoice and they don't use Paypal (they're in Belgium) I've been trying to reach EW all day and nothing, I don't know what else to do!!! very frustrating, especially after the fiasco last week!

I'm sorry it's not working. I'm not sure what else I can tell you that will help. It sounds like a glitch (and I don't know all the work-arounds). If there isn't another way for them to pay electronically on your end, and Direct Checkout is not working, then I'm not sure how you can proceed without getting EW support involved. I don't know a lot about accepting international payments when one of the regular payment processors do not offer services there. They did choose direct checkout, right? I wish I could help...have you tried posting in bugs on the regular forum? I know that might not be much help, but until you hear back from EW, it may be worth a try.

Hello Heyar and Jennifer, I can assure you that Paypal does operate in Belgium. That's a bit of a red herring, though. Your customer can make a CC payment via a Paypal invoice if you send one. He can do this as a guest and does not need to have a Paypal account. I'm in the UK and have used this regularly with customers who prefer to pay by CC.
BTW although accepted for EW I haven't started wholesaling here yet so this is based on my direct dealings with wholesale and individual shoppers.

Thanks so much everyone, I sent the customer a PayPal invoice, hoping they can proceed. I'm still waiting to hear back from anyone at EW.
