Post a mini bio about yourself

Hey gang. It occurred to me that as our team grows, it would be nice to have info on each of us in one place, rather than having to go to each shop's profile page. So, please leave us a note, tell us about yourself and include contact info ONLY if you would like. I'm getting the ball rolling myself so you can see what I had in mind. THANKS.

I'm Karla Ross of Adornments by Karla. I make jewelry, mosaics and mixed media. Have been with ETC about 3 years and am on the leadership committee or "core group". I also belong to the Ohio Art League.
I'm a stay at home mom of 2 (ages 14 & 11) and full time volunteer. My home is in Westerville. Have lived in Ohio off and on since 1986. Originally am from Miami, FL and Mobile, AL (where most of my extended family remains) but also lived in Fort Worth, TX, Albuquerque, NM and Orlando FL.
Locally the art scene is something I'm very interested in promoting and supporting. I attend events put on by Wild Goose, Couchfire Collective, CS Gallery, OAL, the SBB, Crafty Cotillion, and others. It's my pleasure to make referrals/connections and see my pals & teammates doing well with their businesses.
My aesthetic is COLORFUL and fun. I love bright and bold red, royal blue, acid green and teal. Abstract art appeals to me, day of the dead motifs, folk art from hispanic countries (I'm half Cuban), Glass art, and paper cuts. Themes I enjoy are trees/branches, flowers, pineapples, birds, ocean/sea, fire, dragons, robots (kitschy), & skeletons/calaveras.

Re: Post a mini bio about yourself

I'm Steph. Growing up, I was a sewing reject. I took a 4-H project at age 8, promptly broke three needles on my mother's Singer, and was banished from sewing ever again.

I formerly worked in a popular retail store where I had fun merchandising clothing and accessories. I loved combining different colors and prints and creating something that was visually appealing. I left my job to stay at home with my now three yer old son, Adam.

I quickly found myself missing that creative outlet I once had, so I asked for a sewing machine for my birthday and taught myself to sew. That fall, I started my shop here on Etsy. (Mada = Adam spelled backward). My shop reflects my love of bright colors and fun prints and my passion for functional and eco-friendly items.

I've loved my journey on Etsy, and I am quickly approaching my 2000th item sold here. I feel incredibly lucky to receive such great support from my customers, friends, and fellow ETC members.

Re: Post a mini bio about yourself

I am Amy Ressa. I currently have 2 shops, http://www.aressa.etsy.com and http://www.distinctsigns.etsy.com . My husband and me created the personalized wire wooden hangers last year. That is primarily what I sell now. They are primarily for brides, grooms, and bridesmaids. I do also sell some for flower girls and babies.

I also sell painted glassware and decals. I am always coming up with new ideas....I guess that is pretty common amongst the creatives, right?

I like to support the local art scene and continue to get more involved in the street team and doing more local shows.

I am Becky and am just a mom that likes to make cute things!

I started creating Kuddle Bumz diaper covers because they were cute and easy for the "toddler on the move" to wear. Then the leftover fabric turned into Teeny Beeny Booties. And then I couldn't forget us moms! The adorable Rockabilly Momma Aprons came along - cuz they work really well with my chef coat! Momma Jewels show off my crazy love of beads...and I hope that you can find something from my creative-ness that you like!

All proceeds go to Kaitrin's Klub to support families with preemies - www.kaitrinsklub.com

Re: Post a mini bio about yourself

I'm Kathryn Gorney. I sell acrylic and oil paintings in my shop. I've been drawing since I was a kid but didn't really get into painting until around 2005. I've done lots of arts/crafts in phases throughout my life though. I work as a counselor/case manager at a community mental health center and just went part-time due to all the funding cuts (we had to lay off 25% of our staff and will probably lay off 40% this summer). Anywhoo, since I'm now part-time at my job, I've been working part-time at an accounting firm and am job searching.
Most of my artwork is landscapes, usually more surreal/abstract. I love bright colors, impressionism, and surrealism. I started my etsy shop in 2007 and enjoy being part of the artistic community in Columbus. I'm married to a pilot (I was a flight attendant for a few years) and live in Pickerington.

Re: Post a mini bio about yourself

Hello. I'm Shauna Roush of Designs by Shauna. I too am on the leadership committee (core group) and have been with Etsy Team Columbus since June of 2010. I am relatively new to the art world. I started making jewelry in January 2010 and love every minute of it! This year I took on a new adventure, Hair Accessories. It's hard to pin point what my style is exactly. I'd say it leans more towards the classics. I do a lot of bridal jewelry as well.

I am a full time working mom of 2 beautiful daughters. Alissa 11 and Madison 6. I am only 30 and have been with my husband for 14 years. We are high school sweathearts.

I am always looking for something new and exciting to create!!

Re: Post a mini bio about yourself

Hello darlings! I am Jessica Gillespie of The Dark At Heart and I have been with ETC since only April of this year (newbie!). My personal life consists of a very handsome husband and two lovely children, Corbin - 15 and little Ava - 5. Oh, and our ridiculously fat cat, Jack. I have been a stay at home mom for around 2.5 years and love every minute of it.

I taught myself how to crochet when I was pregnant with my daughter and am also self taught in jewelry making. My workspace usually looks like an antique jewelry shop exploded in it or it feels as if I am swimming and/or drowning in a sea of yarn. ;) I am obsessed with vintage jewelry pieces and love to create things that look like they have come from a past era. My friends will tell you that I was definitely born in the wrong century!
