Question about direct checkout

Hello, teammates,

I have one question about the payment. There is a payment method called Direct Checkout~This is the function only for US shop. Is the Direct Checkout a credit card payment? Since Paypal accept credit card, why should we need the Direct Checkout? Could anyone explain the difference for me?

Also, since Direct Checkout needs a US address, can I use my friends address? But how can I actually get my pay?

I am kind of thinking about this also.

And I send the request to etsy and there's nothing back to me yet...

Well, I didn't see the icon that I can set up.

Other hand, I got an artfire shop also...(oh yes I got three on line shop have to run) on my artfire shop I got an account (propay) to take care those customers who use credit cards. And propay need to sign up and pay the member fee( it up to different level...etc.)

Anyway, about the etsy. I might just ask again.

Usually if you took credit card here(US), they will ask your bank account and SSN...etc. Then wire the money to your bank, and cost you other fee,too.


Thinking about it Gary, it will tax you also if you make more than $30000/year.

I have no idea the tax following if you own a com. Or llc in Taiwan tho.

Miki - A quick question for you. How is your sale like at Artfire? How do you like it?

Well, I got the lowest fee . When they start it , it was like $9 /month.

And they gave out lowest fee ever such is $5.95/month.

List free, sale fee free, only got monthly fee and you can locked the fee you got.

So, doesn't matter for me anyway, and they got deal with propay so I got an account for lower price (propay).

And those months I was on etsy more than my artfire. Etsy is bigger and more ppl want to shop here...

If you got a lot of items, artfire will be nice for you.

Since we are SHARING about this topic, have you guys heard an online company called "Artisan Booth"?


Basically, they get your permission to use your shop photos and placed them on their website to sell.....they are the one doing all the promotion for you. Once your item is sold, they paypal you including the cost of shipping, you make the item and ship it to the client. (internationally, they even translate to diff languages for your items). Wedding, Home Dresses, Men, Women, kids...everything


We are currently working with them STILL, will share with you how everything goes. Maybe it's another place to sell your handmade stuff.

Again, I still think Etsy is the best so far...
