what's wrong with my shop?

Hi everyone!
I made a lot of changes to my keywords and descriptions but I'm still not seeing much traffic or sales.
Please take a look and tell me your opinion. I think I've been staring at it too long and just don't see it.
THX!

Re: what's wrong with my shop?

Hi There
I like the aprons. Maybe in the titles you can put in more key words. That helped me greatly. Maybe with the apron's place it on people as well. Key word; hostess gift, cook lovers, kitchen, aprons, fun, whimsical etc...
Good luck

Re: what's wrong with my shop?

You are using your tags wrong. You want multiple words in your tags not just single words, and they should also be the words used in your titles. You have "dog" as one of your tags, try "dog apron" instead.

I think it would also help if your pictures showed the entire item in the thumbnail photo. So try taking the photos from further away so that people can see the whole item when they are searching without having to click on the photo. Try photographing on a consistent background. It would be cute if you could actually have someone modelling them against a wall or something..if you can't get a model then use your dress form but place it against a blank space so that the background isn't too busy and your photos will pop.

Re: what's wrong with my shop?

I just joined today and have yet to make a sale myself, but I just finished updating all of my listings. The one thing that stood out to me was that your titles should state what the item actually is within the first 2-3 words. You are describing the items as far as the patterns. If you say: Waitress Apron......and then go on to give colors, patterns etc. From the article I was reading it said that Google will pull from those first 2-3 key words. Hope this help! I love the aprons, they are very cute!

Re: what's wrong with my shop?

Hi Alicia,

I love your aprons and have faved a few and favourited your shop.

As Angel and Elizabeth said, I think it would really help you to take the pictures from further back, otherwise you are just looking at one big pattern without knowing what it is.

When writing your titles you need to think about what people are going to put in Search when they are looking for aprons. They are not going to write "Pretty in Pink", "Spring Forward" etc. They will be putting in Apron, Half Apron, Blue Apron, Pink Apron, Cotton Apron…

I look forward to seeing more!

Re: what's wrong with my shop?

You should work on your pictures first. Items with lighter backgrounds tend to do better on Etsy, so you may want to think about that. I agree with what the others said about taking pictures from further away - that will help your customers see more of your beautiful designs. You may also want to take pictures using models as that gives customers a better idea of what your aprons will look like on them. As it is now, all your pictures are relatively similar (in the listings I've seen). You should make full use of the slots available to showcase your aprons in different contexts. Maybe one with it folded, or if your packaging is nice, show how you package it too. They may want to buy one as a gift!

Re: what's wrong with my shop?

Alicia, I think you're getting good tips here. Also: your Shop Announcement (the lines of text at the top of your page, under your shop name) - say "On Pins and Needles". That shop announcement area is one that Google searches as if it were a headline - that's a place you need to say what you sell! Keywords should be there. "Handmade aprons and " (etc.)

And yes, put "apron" in the first few words of your titles - it does help!

Re: what's wrong with my shop?

Thanks everyone! I'm going to start with updating my pics to show case the full apron. I like the idea about including what the packaging looks like too. ( but I'm working on improving that too)

Hi, Alicia, congratulations on launching your shop!

I looked at this listing. My suggestions are:
--use all five photo slots (detail close ups, ready to ship, etc.)
--the first photo should show the entire apron (see how it looks in the thumbnail photo--this is what customers will see when they browse)
--use a model if possible

Write your policies.

All the best.
