variations question

I have very few items that have variations, but to de-clutter my shop when I get to a point where I can use variations, I would like to know more about them.

My biggest concern is having a set number of each variation, and not being able to tell the listing "hey, I have 3 red, 5 blue, 2 yellow, and 1 green," and then getting orders for things I don't have.

So when you put up the listing with variations, is it possible to "program" it so the listing knows how many of each variation you have?

Not that i know of.. Maybe it's an idea to list it as '1 available' and put in in the description something like ' If you want more than 1, please contact me to see if it's possible'
Does anyone know if the variations translate automatically? Because i can only choose the colors in my one language

No, there is no way to state that you have 3 red, 4 pink and 1 green.

The total will show as 8 available and the customer can pick any combination.

That's one of the main drawbacks of variations.

I thought so. I did it to experiment and there wasn't a setting. Something that makes me question it is that I saw a listing for a necklace with different crystal arrangements in them. all 5 variations were listed, but a few of them said "out of stock", which makes me wonder if there is a way.

If there isn't, we should make etsy make it a thing XD

When you use variations you can indicate out of stock. The system either indicates you have the variation or not, not how many of each variation you have on hand.
