treasury?

Etsy newbie here!

Can somebody explain what people mean by treasuries and, more importantly, how they can help your store?

Thanks!

Re: treasury?

A treasury is a collection of 16 items of various shops . The items are chosen to look well together (like a collage) for color and should create a feel or a theme. I will show you a link to the first one I ever did.

How can they help your store? They give more exposure to your shop and the shops you include in the treasury. Whether or not that translates to sales is the question. It might. Actually, I bought 3 or 4 items from my own treasuries! I sold nothing.....Hmmmm

It is kind of addictive and fun. I have created 8 of them since Nov. 2012.

So....I guess you could say it is a creative way to tempt yourself to buy things!

Good luck!

Re: treasury?

Abigail, to see all of the treasuries, click on the big "etsy" square on the upper left corner of your screen, then scroll down to where it says "more ways to shop", and then click on "treasuries".

A lot of people browse through treasuries just for amusement, like window shopping....so ti tends to create fewer actual sales than when customers are searching for a specific item that they "need"...but it can lead to buyers purchasing things that they realize they "want". It's also incredibly inspiring to see what people create, or curate.

Re: treasury?

Ah, I see. Thanks :)

Would you mind explaining one more thing... a few people I don't know have added me to their 'circles'. I add myself to my co-worker and sister-in-law's circle. Can you explain the purpose of the circles? I thought it was like 'friend'-ing on Facebook - but was then scratching my head as to why strangers would 'circle' me.

And should I be circling others to help my store or do they not really help your store?

Re: treasury?

BTW, like that treasury, firefly - I see what you mean by want vs. need! :)

Re: treasury?

and sorry, one more question about treasuries - do you submit your items to people making them or do they just search and find your items?

I thought the threads called 'treasuries' were people looking for items to make into them but when I read through them, it was just people showing off the ones they have already made. Hm.

Re: treasury?

Great questions, Abigail :)

All items are found by searching for them - so if someone wanted to use your items they'd find it in Search, and if you wanted to find others' items, that's also where you'd go to assemble your collection.

In reference to others just "showing off" the ones they already made, the whole point of treasuries is to showcase others' items, so naturally you'd want to help those people out even more by promoting the collection you created with their items in it. And you may get some residual curiosity traffic and/or curators returning the favor for your own shop (especially if you make great-looking treasuries!).

Making treasuries is super-fun! I highly recommend it :)

Re: treasury?

to answer your other question, circling can be a way to thank someone for faving your shop or a way to keep up with the favs of someone who shares a similar taste to you, eg their treasury lists or faves.

again not sure how directly beneficial it is in regards to sales, but its a good way to be involved with the community on etsy
