relisting question

Hi guys :D

This may be a really stupid question, but i just wanted to know how often you guys re- list your items?

Do you wait till each item hits the 'expiry date' or do you re list often?

I'm still abit of a newbie :)

Thanks x

Re: relisting question

In addition to relevancy, the etsy search is also based on how recently an item is listed.
In order to be seen regularly, I re-list some items every day.

Re: relisting question

I don't renew every day in general but I will when ...

- I don't have anything new to list
- I've taken new photos, updated tags, description, etc.
- Feel that an item is a good fit for a current trend or something like that

Re: relisting question

I try to re-list a few items daily because I see a spike in views right after. However, it can get expensive so I'm currently looking free means of advertising. I'm a small shop and I need to keep costs down.

Good luck!

Re: relisting question

Remember, though, that with the new search ads, your items no longer appear on top just because they're new, so relisting is less effective than ever.

Re: relisting question

Relevancy has nothing to do with recency any more. An item can appear first in the relevancy list that was listed 2 months ago, and an item that was listed last week can easily be much lower down even if they have virtually the same tags and titles.

I don't relist items until they expire. In fact, when I list things only half the time have I seen a spike in views and hearts. But this is just my personal preference. I've not tried relisting items before their expiry date, so I can't say for certain if it's still effective with the relevancy changes or not.

It's up to the individual really, but I wouldn't relist. It can get expensive, and if you're not making many sales, you'll end up losing more than you gain.

Re: relisting question

I'm getting views on the Etsy home page when I re-list. Sometimes more than 30 views. But, I agree that's it's not as effective as before and is expensive.

However.....I noticed my relevancy sort is gone today. Is it just me? I click on any category (i.e. jewelry, glass, art....) and everything is sorted by most recent. Am I just a dork and haven't noticed that before? But, when I do a search, it's still by relevancy.

Re: relisting question

Without a buyer entering search terms, there's no way to sort by relevancy, so my guess is that's why it's showing recency only.
