"Do not ship order until finished processing " direct check out message

Today I got a second order that etsy has asked me to hold until its finished processing
The first one was on Sunday second one today and still no info from etsy from the first
one. It shows up as a sold sale under amount of sales section but it does not appear under etsy sold orders.
There is no info on when it will clear when they will contact me has anyone heard of yech a thing?

It says

We wanted to let you know that you have a pending sale of 1 item.

We're still processing your order and will send you a confirmation email as soon as it's ready.


Etsy check out takes three days plus now they are holding orders with no info or no follow up email?

Never heard of this before, how frustrating to know that you have made a sale, I would find this really annoying, especially if it was a custom order and I couldn't start the order until I got the customer sizes etc. Perhaps one of the more experienced sellers can tell you more.

And one of then is coming to New York on vacation and wants to pick up his bag and I'm running our of time

Is it Etsy DC, or is it an e-check from PayPal?

Also, yesterday was Columbus Day - maybe it's on hold for some reason because of that?

And I've never had a problem with them holding the money - as soon as my customers pay, I'm free to ship my items. You might want to contact Etsy - there's a Direct Checkout team if it's a DC problem. Join there and ask, and an admin should answer your question.

It happened to me a couple of times, but I normally received confirmation emails within an hour. If Etsy is holding an order, there should be a reason. It may be because the customer typed in wrong credit card info or something like that. Etsy has to make sure the credit card is valid and YOU can receive money.

Yup I heard that from several people usually a couple of hours now its going on three days and now I have 2 !

I had an order delayed once because the paypal transaction required several days to process. It was an international order and I think the funds were in a different currency. Could that be it? Have you looked at Paypal for any info?

It's not pay pal it's DC
Pay pal always gives you a range of time but I have bot received any such letter from DC except dont ship

It happens if they need to verify something with the credit card and address. Something didn't match up. A lot of times it's something stupid like the person only put "First Name Last Name" as the billing info when the credit card says "First Name Middle Initial Last Name". Address matches etc, it's a legitimate sale, just something was off. Sometimes it happens too if people's address is 123 Mount Breeze Drive and they put 123 Mt Breeze Drive.


If you ever notice in Paypal sometimes you get a ship to error because Paypal doesn't like St. Louis, they want it spelled out Saint Louis....little nit picky stuff like that. They can tell since like 90% of the info matches that it's just something that has to be looked at.

Before dc and before tweaks in the etsy system....people - customers were able to click and cart and tie up your items for up 7 days. While you waited for the reply, or a message from the seller indicating how they were going to pay for that item.

I can't remember when the change came, probably the end of 2008, but it was fixed. And the item wouldn't appear as sold until the customer paid in full via PP.

Perhaps their a situation with the payment or credit card at the customer's end? I don't use dc, but I've heard good things from other sellers about the process, then I've read many like your situation today. Good Luck hope all works out.

The banks have not been open for the last 3 days. That's why it's taken so long. If it doesn't resolve today, then you can worry.

May be some one added the item to cart, but didn't complete the order. I can't think of any other reason.... Or the customer has a bad reputation on Etsy?
Can you see who is the buyer?

Yes I can and I've been talking to him to almost a week on an ultra custom bag
And he is coming to NY to pick it up
But he is out of the US

This happens. It's common. Within a few hours you should get another email saying you're good to go. It's just something to do with the banks.
