pictures uploading sideways?

The past week some of my pictures I upload have been uploading sideways? What's up with that? Is it happening to you guys?

I have been having a hard time uploading at all. I contacted Etsy about it and they said to check sizing, I did, and nothing. Then they said to switch browsers, so I did. Still, nothing. I even deleted a picture already on one of my listings and then tried to upload the same picture again.... nothing.... ugh.

What I've been doing when that happens is cropping the picture a tad in Photobucket and then trying to upload it again. It has always worked for me.

This happens to me sometimes. What I do is I go back to the original picture saved on my computer and I re-name/re-number it. Then I upload that picture and it is not sideways anymore.

Agree with editing the picture on your computer and then uploading. I have had issues uploading a banner. Agreed, it is a pain sometimes.

Sometimes I run vertical picts through a photo program 1st to check and reorient & save before uploading. I've found my camera program has a mind of it's own sometimes in determining the direction!

I just crop ALL my pictures in a horizontal 3x4 ratio and then export them as 1000 pixel pics. Wouldn't work for vertical art pieces, but it works quite nicely for jewelry...

It sometimes happens to me if I edited the photo in Picasa (or any other software) and forgot to "save" the changes. When I go back to see why the photo uploaded sideways, it looks right to me (that is, as I edited it) but if I click the "save" button, it shows me that I didn't click it earlier.

So I'd also suggest you check you own photos to be sure you're saving as you edit.

No not me. I edit photos to correct dimensions for uploading. I use iPhoto or Adobe illustrator. You have to do the same whatever program you use.

Was the camera sideways when you took it? Photo album viewer applications are often smart enough to rotate the image based on EXIF data (data embedded in the image by the camera) when displaying it, but A) web browsers don't do that and B) even if they did, Etsy strips the EXIF data out of images so they load on the customer's browser faster.

First time I try etsy, as I was over the system glitches on eBay, and this happens :( Have tried editing, rotating, renaming - nothing works :(

This started only the last 2 days with me and it is driving me batty. I was uploading from my phone as I have 200 plus bottles to load and having to download to computer and reload was taking far too long. But now this started and other than editing, I have tried it all. Etsy needs an edit "rotate" feature.
