open another shop or not?

I'm thinking of opening another etsy shop to seperate my toys from my cushions and cosies just not sure if it's a good idea. Or are they best all under one roof so to speak? Could you take a look see thanks.

I suggest keeping them together.

I think the items in your shop are very related. Someone who first came to your shop because of pillows, might see the toys and buy one.

I wondered the same thing a few weeks ago and asked this team, too. Many people said 2 shops are a lot of work. I decided to keep everything in one shop.

Maybe someone with 2 shops can give some advice....

I know Etsy's been saying this for MONTHS now, but eventually they want to make it so you only have one shop, so why not get a jump on it now before the enforcing starts...

I too think one shop is a better decision. Promoting and adding new products to 2 or more shops is a lot of work. And as everyone said, people looking for one thing, might like something else in your store.
I had too many different types of things, and I finally removed about 11 items and reduced the categories of products I have. So I will be just sticking with 1 store.

I agree that you should stick to one shop for now. I don't think you have enough listings to make two shops work for you, your items are more likely to be seen in just one shop. The toys and cushions all have your style, so it looks fine.

The more items in one shop the more hits you will have. You miss out on sales I think when you devide your stuff. And offcourse there's the extra work. :)

I have two shops and it's very time consuming to take care of both. In your case I see no good reason for splitting, your items have a common theme so you'll be better off keeping them all under one roof.

I'm getting ready to open a second shop in the next week or two. I thought long and hard about it, I have a fairly successful shop running right now so it was a tough decision. But the 2nd shop is so totally unrelated to the first that I can't see putting them together. One is selling my handcrafted items, the other will be selling supplies.

I really hope Etsy isn't going to change the rules now. Sometimes two shops is really the only option.

I have my stuff split up into shop categories and plan to add products to the existing categories already there, but they are so unrelated. There is not enough quantity yet to make different shops but at some point down the line I would like to much more.

Should I consider two shops or keep it as one to maximize possible cross sales and minimize extra work?

Katrina, it is true your different categories are completely unrelated and splitting may be a good idea. That said, you'll need way more items in all categories for it to be worth it. And don't forget the second shop starts from scratch again, no views, no sales, no followers, nothing. It takes a long while to build it back up !

Your toys are a cohesive enough product with your others. I say keep them on one shop. It offers variety to your existing shop and keeps buyers in your shop longer. I have always said if you can figure out a way to make your stuff cohesive, but offer variety it gives shoppers a better shopping environment.

Together! I think that the materials and style are similar, so there's no point in separating them.
