Re: new website

Make it personal, include a bio, why is this your passion, show a couple of pictures of you working the wood.

Make us dream, show close up pictures of the wood, it can have an almost marble, jewel like quality.

What does it feel like ? Smell like ?

I got lost on the technical details, but it sounds like you know your subject.

Include photos in their setting, on lace, against velvet or in a gentleman's library, holding cigars, exquisite stationary ...

How does one live this box, how does it accompany us through our day and through our life ?

Good luck !

Re: new website

I'm not sure what you mean by "technical details", could you elaborate?

Re: new website

Your new website is looking good! I too would love to see your workshop, and maybe some of the tools you use to create them!

It is easy to navigate your site and the details are very specific once you click on a photo! Make sure you continue to use great key words, key meta tags!

Best of luck!

Re: new website

thank you so much for your input, site navigation and layout was a concern, so if you think that part is ok, I can go ahead with the other great suggestions made. (I didnt want to get too far and have to start over)

Also, it seems to me that my photos look much better on my site than they do in my Etsy shop, not sure why that is, they are the same photos

Re: new website

Nice website! I also would like to see an About the Artist or About Us section with info about you and your process. Perhaps even a video showing you at work. It wasn't clear how you will use a forum and that right now seems out of place.

The other thing I'd recommend is to somehow get at least two of the boxes on the home page above the fold. By "above the fold", I mean up high enough so that a person using a PC will not have to scroll down to see them. You could eliminate some of the wording up top like "We appreciate you taking the time to browse our shop" or put the wording below. Buyers are most interested in seeing what you have, and you want to capture their interest right away with great photos.

You could say for your byline, "Unique handmade jewelry boxes, stash boxes, scrollwork and more made with figured and exotic woods" and leave it at that. Then, in an About Us, you could add all the details you want.

Wish you success with your website!
Janet

Re: new website

thanks so much,
like I said, work in progress, all very nice suggestions and I am making changes as I get feedback. As it is, I dont have much choice in "theme" templates. would really love one more in tune with my venue.

Re: new website

I noticed that the layout changes from "Small Boxes" and "Jewelry Boxes" to the layout for "Clocks and Scrollwork"? I am not sure if that is intentional, but if you want to keep it streamline I really like the way the layout is formed for the former. I feel like you could just have the overarching label at the top as before then have the examples below, otherwise I have to scroll down on my laptop and even thought they are all VERY different clocks, it still is a clock theme... does that makes sense?
