Banner may look great but on a 1920 x 1080 monitor you can't see any items until you scroll down.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Jennifer you have lovely items. Try to upload as much as possible, use longer titles and repeat the words in your tags.
Good Luck!

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Definitely longer titles with words repeated in tags. You also dont need words in single-word tags and multi-word tags. Example in the listing below:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/516714991/mobius-dream-cowl?ref=shop_home_active_1

You have "crochet" and "cowl" as single word tags and then "crochet cowl" as a multi-word. That's unnecessary, as the multi-word tag makes you relevant for searches of 'crochet' 'cowl' AND 'crochet cowl'.

You need to read the rules and best practices for tagging and titling for etsy's search.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Hi, Jennifer, more listings! I looked at this listing.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/501994346/crochet-easter-bunny-stuffed-bunny?ref=shop_home_active_4

Very cute! But you have bunnies made with variegated yarn but only include solid colors in your drop down color menu. Maybe change the photos to show solid color yarns, especially the first photo. And/or include variegated color options in the color option menu.

All the best!

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Jennifer, the update tags look better, but why aren't you using all 13? Always use all 13 tags Etsy gives you for every item. Not doing so is a waste.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Bev - It doesn't give me an option for variegated colors so I picked the colors that are in the ones I have done. I know it isn't ideal but I didn't know what else to pick.

Bee - I am still working on them but I am having trouble thinking of other tags to use. I am determined to get this but it's stressing me out.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Take a look at what other folks selling similar items use for tags if you get stuck.

Also you can make your own labels for variations if the colors you need aren't there.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

I tried looking at other people's tags. But so many of them use repeating tags for the same item. Like when you guys said I didn't need crochet, scarf, AND crochet scarf. I found a lot of stuff like that. I hope I got them ok now though.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

no, they are still terrible, honestly. Have you read a basic overview by Etsy on how to tag and title for the relevancy search?

This article is very basic but should get you started: https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/how-to-get-found-in-search/22717244953

And this from the handbook:

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Sara - I have read them both. Could you tell me what exactly I am doing that is terrible? Just saying that they are terrible without saying anything else isn't that helpful. I am trying to get better but I need to know what I am doing wrong specifically.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Jennifer, have you looked at different options for finding tags? Like google analytics? Or Marmalead? Etsyrank is a great source (although you need to sign up to see all the amazing features) and it's free.

Here are some things that helped me out.... use evernote or trello or google doc and keep a running list of tags that you have used and ones you find so they will always be readily available.

Pepper in your listings things like, "Gift for her", "Modern and Minimal", "Gifts Under 30" and "Gifts Under 50", "Made in the USA" and "Made in YOUR TOWN" - These will capture a different audience for people looking for gifts but not specifically for your item. I am not sure if a scarf counts as an accessory but if it does you can do a lot with that!

Also, split your tags between specific and official terms and broad ones. I don't know what a snood is and I wouldn't search for it, I would search for "cute crochet beanie" because I am not familiar with the term. Where as someone else is going to come to Etsy looking for a snood. Appeal to us both for more sales.

Before a holiday go into certain listings and add holiday tags (like Mother's Day and Valentine's Day) then schedule a reminder in your phone to take them out after the holiday.

Tags are always super hard and annoying to figure out. I try to use the idea of broad, specific and random tags when I tag. Broad = what it is, Specific = exactly what it is (hello, snood!) and random = gift for her, gift for bff, minimalist, etc....

From what I have learned so far, the first keywords are the most important in the title and listing and will show up on google so make them count! If Kayla is not a type of scarf design then lose it! You want the first part of your title to be an SEO winner.

Use all the photo slot! Etsy gave it to you for a reason, so you should use it! Close up shots and color availability work well.

In your Mobius Scarf there is a lot of repeat tags, which happens because you only have so many ideas but you used mother's day, mother's day gift, girl gif, womens gift.... in theory you are wasting your tags because you are repeating keywords. Remove "mother's day" because it is covered in mother's day gift.

Sorry for rambling on... I hope this helps you!

Re: new shop looking for feedback

This one has good tags now:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/516714991/mobius-dream-cowl-crochet-infinity-scarf?ref=related-0

The two below still have a lot of single word tags and/or repeating (read: wasted) tags. I know you said you looked at some similar shops for ideas and "many of them use repeating tags," but the fact is that a lot of people dont optimize their SEO. Theirs could be better, too.

Re: new shop looking for feedback

Adri - that was very useful info. Thank you!!! I hope I didn't sound too snarky in my response to Sara. I was extremely frustrated because I was trying hard and I thought I was doing what the articles all said but then all I hear is that they are terrible without any thing else except a link to the exact same articles I read in the first place.

I was afraid you were going to tell me to not use the word snood because nobody would know what it was but it was the only word I know that in anyway sets it apart from all the other scarves available! lol
I am also working on getting better and more photos. It's a bit tricky here because it is ALWAYS sunny and the neighborhood I live in isn't very attractive. I am trying to find a park or something that I can take them in where I won't see my neighbor's junk car lot or overgrown grass.

Bee - thank you for looking at it again. The mobius cowl is the only one I have redone so far. I wanted feedback to make sure I was getting it before I wasted all the time to redo the others.

More items, more consistent photography with light-colored, cheery backgrounds, much more detailed shop policies, and a logo thats more dramatic and bright.
