need your point of view on material

Hi,
I'm preparing some new necklace designs and due to size of pendant I want, i had to go to brass instead of vermeil I'm usually using.
However, the chain will still be vermeil.
I'm wondering if I should propose gold plated brass pendant or keep it brass only.
I fear the price for gold plated could stop buyers from purchasing but I fear to face quick oxydation if I keep brass only.
The necklace with vermeil chain, gemstone and large brass pendant would be around 48$ and the same necklace but with gold plated large brass pendant would be 70$.
What is your point of view and your experience ? Should I go for gold plated or not ?

There is a customer for every price point. I have prices ranging from $16 to over $300. Most sales are in the $35-55 range but there are always customers looking in different price ranges.

You might be surprised at how much it expands your business to buy the higher quality materials. I personally don't like plated anything - if I were going to do it, I'd use gold-filled or sterling silver. Plating wears off too quickly, and honestly, that's not my target market, anyway.

On a personal note : I'd buy brass over plated anything in a heartbeat, but that's just a personal preference, and I know I'm pretty peculiar when it comes to jewelry.

I'm not too crazy about plated jewelry. I've always had the plating wear off. But I do like the idea of offering both to your customers. You will most likely find people to purchase both plated and non-plated.

Talking about gold plated and gold filled, i would have prefered gold filled but I could not find the kind of component I wanted in gold filled. That is quite tricky to find what you want when you have something very specific in mind :-)

I am not a huge fan of gold plated. I like it either gold or brass. That being said, I do have a gold platted necklace and I also have a brass (bullet) pendant on a gold plated chain.
I agree with everyone. If it's not a one of a kind, try to offer both options under the same listing.

What about oxidized brass so it's meant to be tarnished?
