lots of hearts but...

i have been getting lots of hearts on my items, but no sales. i'm definitely happy with hearts and grateful that people like my items, but any advice on what it is that would tip the scales in favor of a sale? is it the price? what could i do to make all these hearts translate into sales?!

Hello there IMJ: I'm in the same boat. You have only been opened since february and march sales are slow. From what I've heard it takes a while for someone to take off, but with your clear style and great jewelry I think you will do fine. ;)

thanks, EG. i guess i am being impatient, it just seems like i put SO much into this etsy shop. i have had a lot of success in real life but since hitting the internet it hasn't taken off. ps your belt pockets are awesome!

It took me awhile to start getting sales as well. It is hard to not become discouraged. I found that by joining teams, having a facebook, doing giveaways helped a lot. My sales are still not where I wish they were but it is starting to take off a little. Hang in there, your stuff is great :)

i know i am being impatient! i just want to have the best shop i can. if there's good tips/tricks out there i can use i don't want to miss out on anything.
as far as marketing... i have a facebook page, which is actually where i started. i have been doing treasuries, actually won a little contest and had treasuries made with my shop (go to treasury search and put in nonteamalterego9). i tried my first bnr this week but had no success, which was a huge let down. i think i will get a spot in her next one but i haven't heard from her yet.
any suggestions??

i've also done a lot of work with the tags, titles, and especially photos in an attempt to get more views and search engine hits. i still don't come up on google searches, but i think i need more items in my shop for that.

I've seen your shop before and everything is gorgeous! A lot of times people will heart an item so they can find it when they have the money to purchase. I do this! Also now that there are circles people see items that they think should be shared and heart them so others can see them. I have noticed also that people heart them so they can add them to treasuries. You are great. Your shop and merchandise are beautiful and your prices are good.
For BNR's you will need to add some items around $5 because BNR's will bring you small sales, feedback and recognition. Think of it as an advertising expense. Untill you get more positive feedback for your shop people will be slow to buy. Good luck I know you will do wonderful! P.s I will be buying my sisters birthday present from your shop in about a week!!!

You are off to a great start! Facebook is a great first step! I see that you have your Facebook information in your profile which is great!

Treasuries are a great way to be noticed within Etsy. The treasuries you have been in are lovely! I can immediately pick out your items! They are unique and over time you will develop a following! People will recognize your work! I've only done one BNR so I can't really comment on the opportunities there!

Your shop announcement, profile, titles etc are looking really good! It takes alot of time to tweek your shop and there is always an evolution in the development!

Have you had an opportunity to sit in on a virtual lab yet? Someone from Etsy Admin hosts the lab and they are super informative! When I was new I attend several "Newbie Chats" and I learned so many tips!

Do you have a blog? Have you considered it? Again it takes time to devlop a following. The biggest benefit I have discovered from having a blog is that it helps with SEO.

You are on the right track! I can see that you want to have the best shop you can!

You say "you hesitated adding more items you your shop". The more products you have the more you get found. Each persons search is unique so change up your Tags to draw in new people.

You may want to try advertising on some blogs devoted to you type of buyer. Do you have specific demographic you sell to? You should find that market and focus your adverting on those site.

Also low sales sometime discourage buyers because there is no feedback to go off of. Have a few of your friends buy a few pieces from you & leave positive feedback.

In the labs they will give you concrete specifics that have worked well for others! There is a lot of wisdom out there we can all learn from!

Yes, I have a blog! It is a work in progress. I need to be more consistant with posting! I do better if I do a whole week at one time! I'm going to work on it this cloudy, first day of spring!

I was waiting my first sale for 4 months. It takes patience ant to work on it- more items, and some activities to promote your shop outside Etsy. First month to get 2 sales- it is great!

speaking of hearts...

i get TONS of hearts & always wondered why i did not get the sales, but i think i know what a lot of the hearts are for now.

i belong to treasury teams & i end up hearting a lot of gorgeous images in peoples shops to add to my treasuries, so maybe some of the hearts will mean you will be in beautiful treasuries for more people to find your creations?!
