join freeshipping day USA or Canada for free

Hey team,

I was contacted by the company that originated Freeshippingday.com and thought that this would be a great opportunity for all of us!

For the first time, they are making a Canadian Free Shipping
day, and they can put a link to your Etsy Store if you
want to try doing some free shipping day deals on
Dec 12th.

There is a merchant sign up page. I just signed up so let me know if you have any questions. I can contact the company if you need any info.


He also said we can tell all our Etsy friends, and he
will put them on there for free as well.

The US free shipping day is Dec 16th, so you can
tell your US Etsy friends about that too. He said
there are already lots of Etsy people signed up
for the US day.

I think they have an email address on the site justshellin. You can try there.

Amy, I don't think the sales will start until the actual day of the 12th. I heard that the US page does quite well.

You may have to wait for tomorrow for them to approve you. It seems that the email actually tells you that they put your link up.

It's great that we will have a strong etsy presence!

This is a great idea! Profits may not be high with low ticket items but its worth the exposure for new shops!

Woo, got confirmed! Are they putting all Etsy shops participating under their Etsy category? I don't see my shop and the page says all the stores will be revealed on December 16th?

Hey Ashley, I found your shop under Health and Beauty. You may want to email them if you want to be found under the Etsy Category. I'm sure it would be an easy fix that they could do quickly.

I think the reveal is the actual deal available ie: free shipping on jewelry or on purchases over $100, etc

Very cool! The Canadian site isn't as big so we are all on the same page for now. Its good that you can get double exposure being in two categories!

Hmm, the only problem I have is this:

"Participants must offer some form of free shipping on Dec. 12 with guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve to urban centers."

While I am offering free international shipping during the month of December, I don't think I can guarantee delivery to Canadians by Christmas Eve - what if it gets held up in Customs?

Diana, you may just want to apply for the US site and not the Canadian. I am just doing the Canadian site since I can't control the time it takes to cross the border.

But I have a few questions: because I gave the code for free shipping when I applied, does that mean that I don't display it anywhere in my shop (for example under the shop name)? And because I signed up on the US site, does this mean that the free shipping is limited to US customers only? Or just the guaranteed arrival? With the guaranteed arrival, can we trust the post office or do most of you plan to go with priority mail? Just curious how others plan to function on this day :) Thanks!

I just signed up on the US site. If I get an order on December 16 I would still have plenty of time to get it there by December 24, especially since I assume a US address. Since the free shipping is only good for one day I can't see why first class would not work. We can only do what we can do. The rest is up to the post office. If we can show that we mailed it on December 17, then it should be fine.

Snowfall, just make sure your terms are posted in your shop announcement. Ie) guaranteed shipping valid for US buyers only, etc
