Supposedly a lot of online retailers participate in 'Cyber Monday' instead of (or in addition to) Black Friday.
Either way, I think sales like that will only help if you've already got a steady stream of traffic into your shop. Otherwise, people will have the same problems finding your shop they have every other day of the year... know what I mean?
In that respect, no, I don't think it's too early to be thinking about this. Build A loyal following, that knows that you have sales, and they might take advantage of a Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale.
For example, you could drive traffic to a Facebook page where you give a 10% discount for 'liking' your page, and keep them coming back by promising future offers through the page. Don't let them forget about you! Then, as Black Friday aproaches, remind people periodically that you will be having a sale, or start a sale and offer deeper discounts on Black Friday. Your following will come back because they know they can get what they want at a great price.
People go to, say, Macy*s or macys.com for after holiday sales because they already know about Macy*s and they want to shop there at a discount. But I wouldn't count on getting more traffic to your shop if people don't already know who you are, what you sell, and where to find you.
My shop is always closed for the holidays, so take my advice with a grain of salt! I'm interested to see what others have to say about this though :)
