i have a question about refunding

I have a customer who had the wrong shipping address listed,so she never got her package,and they haven't sent it back to me,its still in transit. She's. Asking. For a refund because the time has passed that she needed the item,so she doesn't need it anymore. I know I m not responsible for her mishaps of her address being wrong,so what should I do?

That's were your shop policies come in. You have to make a decision either that all sales are final or you can be nice and refund the money. It's a personal call. It's her responsibility to make sure she has the right address, she would have confirmed that during checkout.

How long has it been since it was shipped? Do you have proof that she provided the wrong address? Do you have tracking information?

If she paid with Paypal she can file a claim to get a refund. Regardless of what your shop policies are, if Paypal agrees with her they will refund her money. However, you might be covered if you can prove that she provided you with an incorrect address. I'd give it some time to see if the package is returned to you.

I had a similar issue in my other shop. But the buyer accepted that it was their mistake for getting their address wrong. It gives you more than one opportunity to check it during the checkout process so it is their fault. Perhaps try to make that clear but in a very nice way :)

Well, I kinda almost had that happen. (lol) One of my most recent orders, I checked the paypal reciept, and it said the address was unconfirmed. So, I sent her an email and made sure that the email was right, and that I didn't send it to the same place. I agree with Lori. :)

She has accepted that its her. Fault..but she. Asked about cancelling the transaction or receiving a store credit. My policies state that only refunds are. Given if the product is faulty,but at this point I want to make sure I make the right decision,because I am a fairly. New shop and. I don't want bad feedback,but I. Don't. Want. To eat. The cost on this product either.

I think I would get the package back, then refund her money less the shipping costs. The customer should always be right in my eyes. Even when they are not. I just this week am doing the exact same thing. Not the fun part of it all is it.

Sleep on it, then make a decision there is no hurry. But let the woman know you will get back to her when the package arrives.

thanks karyn, thats what im going to do, sleep on it!!!

And thanks again for the compliment on my shop! I was off work for almost a year due to an accident, with a lot of free time i became a computer junkie! I took up buiness/accounting and learned a lot from there as well. I also owna salon that has a page, so i knew what to do with this one:) but it takes time and patience,MUCH PAtience!!!
