how to target buyers through facebook page?

I looked up ways to market and promote your etsy shop. I created a facebook page for my shop, as this is one of the ways most people recommended to use to promote. I am still struggling to figure out how to target potential buyers to bring them to my shop through facebook? I have my page linked to my regular facebook account, but where do I find potential buyers? So far I have a few friends and family on there as well as other sellers. But these are not my target market. Am I missing something? What should I be doing with my page to reach potential buyers or those who are interested in things I make? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! =]

I'd love to know the answer to that question myself...I've had a fb page for my shop for a few months now...and I don't think any real sales have generated from it...
If there's a secret I'd love to know the answer to that.

Do you have a fb business page made (fan page)? Or is that your personal page? Family, friends and especially other sellers are also buyers! :o) There are a lot of threads here where sellers friend other sellers to help each other grown in fan numbers and from there you can network some more, maybe sponsor some other page's give-aways and your numbers will grow more which *may possibly* equate to sales! My fb fan page has been elemental to the growth of my little shop! :o) GL!

I made a business page, so far I have a lot of sellers on my page, still working on upping the numbers though! Still working on figuring it out and how to use facebook as a better tool for marketing :)

I have wondered about this but one thing I know is that facebook gives you somewhere to communicate with buyers beyond listings. You can put up when you're having sales, a new project that you're starting with pics from beginning to end result, you can post pictures of your 'workshop' etc... All this adds up to you being a real person behind the name which is lovely for buyers. As well, you can encourage people who have purchased from you to post a picture of themselves wearing/using your product which is turn shows other people how fabulous your product is.
There is also a facebook etsy team which might help with other ideas to.

I agree with what JanJat said!

I love interacting with my fb 'fans'. I post new work (those I made for myself or are about to ship) all the time and lots of comments come in through those pic posts. Here and there I'll participate as a sponsor to someone's event and more fans come in that way. Some leave but many stay after the give-away. Just engage and don't spam and most of your fans should stay! :o)

well so far my FB page has increased my viewings coz my friends and family will take a look at the Etsy link I put .. I got few random likes from awesome ppl on twitter :) so far no sales from there tho.. I'll def have to take a look at that book! thnx NTC! :)

I have a business page with FB. I also have a Group page as well. On both, I announce new items, updates with pictures and so forth. While I am logged in as my business on FB, I look for other Etsy shops who are also on FB, and like them. I figure that if I "Like" them, they will go to my page and Like me back. I also check out the other pages that they like too, and so on and so on.

I sent out requests to all my family and friends to "Like" the page and asked them all to tell their friends about it as well. I've gotten a few who came and looked at my shop, but no sales yet. I know you can advertise with them, but it costs money (something I don't have right now).

I recently discovered a Facebook page for moms in my area. Yesterday I noticed that someone posted that they were looking for items for a giveaway because they had reached 1000 fans. I said that I wanted to participate, and within a few hours I had 10 news fans and lots of people saying that they loved my work. I don't know if they will become potential buyers, but one of them said they were also looking for items for a giveaway, and they were wondering if I did custom work.

I guess my recommendation would be to find some groups on Facebook where you can promote your work, and maybe even find some people to help you out!

i have a facebook fan page and have made at least half my sales through there, i make sure that i don't just churn out Etsy links, i chat alot on there, ask for feedback, give them little sneak peeks of new things i am creating and its also a good way to connect with other creative's whether on Etsy or just people interested in handmade. i post most days on there too and really do look forward to peoples responses
