Re: help with tags and titles please :)

I started by writing tags in english/usa spelling, but that may not apply to you - but for earrings, they can either be spelt with one R or two. Secondly, if you type in the tag you want into the search bar at the top (as you are editing your listing) it will come up with loads of suggestions that people usually write it - the most popular tags. I have started using them and all of a sudden I have had far more views on my listings - by going on forums like this, i used to just get loads of shop views but rarely listing ones, now the listings outdo the shop :D hope i helped in some small way! xx

Re: help with tags and titles please :)

Titles should be written with a viewer's perspective, as if we're describing to them the item they're about to see. I (and many others) have a tendency to want titles to be poetic, creative, fun...but those titles don't work in the search engines to bring you more viewers. Remember that you're writing a title the search engine can use to maximize the traffic to your shop. You can be as creative and poetic as you want when you write the text for an item. Just not in the titles.

Say your item is an art print. You want the words "original art print" or "fine art print" in the title. Then you want a few words about the major theme of the print, such as "Wildflower Meadow" or "Aspen Forest in Autumn."

A good place to find the words that will get you the best search results are the keywords you get daily from Etsy. Make sure those are in the title. (My primary keyword is always "bracelet," then "lampwork jewelry.")

Your title might become "Original Art Print Aspen Forest in Autumn Colorful Fine Art." This gives the SE many choices to pick from in order to send you viewers. If a viewer enters "original art," "art prints," "aspen trees, "aspen forest," autumn colors," "autumn art," "fine art" or "colorful art prints," your item will be on one of the pages they are shown.

Or perhaps "Fine Art Print Wildflower Meadow in Bloom Original Wall Art." That would hit on "fine art," "art prints," wildflowers," "meadow," "meadow in bloom," "original wall art," and maybe some others I haven't thought of.

If you think of a keyword phrase, and you're not sure if it will work, try it in the search bar and see what you come up with yourself.

Make a list of the phrases that fit your items. Ask friends to help you. Don't get too far off track because you want to be thinking as if you're a viewer looking for exactly what YOU ARE SELLING. What words would you use in a search? Those go in your title.

There are many fine Etsy articles to help you with titles. I'd also suggest you look at shops that seem to have a lot of traffic and sales, and see how they're writing their titles.

I hope this helps you move toward your goal!

Re: help with tags and titles please :)

Your tags seem fine to me but your titles have words that I am not sure are the best to get hits from searches. For example, I doubt you'd get many people looking for Shoes illustrations. Shoes pictures maybe but I think your best bet is with synonyms of pocket mirror.

Re: help with tags and titles please :)

Anne's right. Let's try an example from your own titles.

"Teddy Bear Studs-Shrink Plastic-Watercolor Illustration" will leave a search engine gasping for breath.

Try this: "Teddy Bear Earrings Small Studs Hand Illustrated." (I'm not so sure about the "hand illustrated" part but I know the word earrings has to be in there so people will know for sure what they're looking for (and at).

Give it a try with this item and 2-3 others. Just change those few and see whether your views increase, and particularly on those items. That will tell you if you''re going in the right direction.
