help with banner and avatar

I need to do a new banner and avatar that is more cohesive and represents my shop.
Does anyone have suggestions on source or what has worked for you?

Re: help with banner and avatar

I do design, so I do my own and adjust it as I feel so inclined :) But I know there are places on etsy that sell personalized banner design. Have you tried searching banner design or etsy banner design? That's where I would start if I were you. The rates are reasonable and it's personalized service.

Re: help with banner and avatar

I would definitely move away from the pink and yellow floral and go for something closer to what you are selling. I use my jewelry in my banner and I think it looks more professional that way and emphasizes what you sell. Your avatar is currently fine but I would use a larger more prominent piece. Avatars are not often seen by buyers unless they come to the forums, but it is nice to advertise one of your better pieces in your avatar or one you especially like. Some people use their images, but I am not fond of that. It is a personal preference, but actually turns me off, but some sellers say it makes buyers more comfortable. As a buyer myself I don't feel that way at all.

Re: help with banner and avatar

Distinct,
your name says it, but the banner doesn't. If someone only saw your banner as a representation of your shop, would they know what you sold, and the flavor of your esthetic? There are some awesome vintage type faces for free on the internet, maybe you could start with the lettering and let it tell you what to do next.

Re: help with banner and avatar

For my banner, I use this tutorial for Picnik:

(For the time being, anyway- Picnik is closing in April).

The tutorial was really helpful to me, and pretty simple.
