help me get started please

i see other newbies posting their worries about pricing and such,
i would really appreciate it if i could get an honest opinion. so far i am not seeing much movement in my shop - and i am getting worried that i might have done a serious mistake investing so much into something that might not be in demand.

Re: help me get started please

You just started selling this month, and that's not much time at all! It took me a month to make my first sale, and another month after that to make my second. So far, your shop looks nice and you have a distinct style.

From looking at your shop, I would suggest working first on:
*titles
*tags

There is a strategy and an art to writing tags and titles, and pay close attention to what keyword phrases show up in your shop stats. A personal suggestion is to add capital letters to titles. Makes them look more organized. For example, change this "sterling silver, swarovski crystal bracelet - copper / orange" to something more organized with capital letters like this "Swarovski Crystal Bracelet, Sterling Silver Bracelet, Orange and Copper." Looks more organized this way, and you have potential keyword phrases clustered. Just a personal suggestion.

Use ALL of your tags, all 13 of them! And be sure to list materials as well. It helps to repeat keyword phrases in your tags, as well, so you can be picked up by the search engine. For example, it might help to tag things like: silver bracelet, crystal bracelet, swarovski crystal, copper bracelet, orange beads, beaded bracelet, etc.

Read all the articles and blogs you can! There's a ton of great info out there, and always something new to learn. Etsy is an active, continous process.

Good luck,

Aman

Re: help me get started please

Another big help is having a Facebook page and a Twitter account. Build up business by featuring your items on FB and tweeting when you post new stuff! The other thing I have noticed is that if I only post a few (one or two) new things at a time (instead of all at once) people come back to see what's new! More traffic = more opportunities to sell. Sign up for Google Analytics too. It will show you where your traffic is coming from, what search words people are using to find you, etc. It's really cool!

Re: help me get started please

I would also post the shipping prices to other countries. I'm from Canada, and I usually just pass over shops who do not provide a shipping price to Canada, so I'm sure that there are other people who do that as well for their country. For my shop, I brought items of different sizes to the post office, and I got quotes for shipping to the countries I wanted to add for the shipping prices. That way, the prices are spot on most of the time!

Good luck!
