first 'upcycled' vintage

Here is my first piece of vintage that I've actually worked on. I'm exceedingly proud of it though I can't say I love my picture. I've taken about 600 pics and thus far like non of them.

So my question. Does it cost too much? Does anyone besides me like it? Don't worry you won't hurt my feelings. I know taste is personal :)

Re: first 'upcycled' vintage

First pictures looks very "etsy" indeed! I love it!
The rest of the pictures could use a little work. I don't think they do the piece justice...

Great job though, that cabinet looks awesome!

Re: first 'upcycled' vintage

I like it, and I don't think it is overpriced. These industrial items seem to be in demand and very hip right now.
One thing I wanted to mention; I think once you upcycle, you have to list an item as handmade instead of vintage (you might have done this, I can't tell.) But if you want to do more of this, you might want to find out exactly what, other than cleaning, you are allowed to do to an item listed under 'vintage'. Another thread, I guess...

Re: first 'upcycled' vintage

That's an Akro Mills parts bin. I used those. Why didn't you re-finish the metal frame and leave the drawers alone? In the long run paint does not stick well to that plastic butt doesn't nicely on the metal as long as it's prepped.

Done that way I'd think of buying it myself.

Re: first 'upcycled' vintage

Hey all

Thanks for the useful information and feedback.

Claudia. I wasn't aware of the whole up cycle means I now have a handmade piece. Will inquire.

Richard. Thanks for info on what I have, as to why I didn't paint or refinish the metal...it looks best in orig state and drawers were v ugly. Seriously doubt u would have liked them. I did get help w the type of paint I used and I think the paint will last despite the plastic drawers. Thx

Re: first 'upcycled' vintage

This piece is amazing, I would use it to organize my crafting tools. I love it. I wouldn't know how to judge the pricing because vintage pieces are not my specialty but personally I don't think its too pricey.
