can anyone look at my listing please

hi did some listing yesterday and i wondered if it made sense, etsy have allowed us to add variations to our listing but nothing that allows us to alter the price of these variations. so i have asked customers to wait for an ammended invoice via paypal...im assuming i can do this. so can someone please just take a peek at my listing and let me know if it makes sense

i think for such variations, if the price is different you should create extra listing after the customer told you he/ she wants to buy it.

Re: can anyone look at my listing please

Hi Frey,
I think you''re making things way too complicated - for you and for your buyer.
If a price change is to be made to orders - don't use the variations tool :)
Separate this listing to 3 different ones - Have your first photo of each of them showcase the difference - one of plain elephant, one with name example and the 3rd with name and birth date.

Hope this helps
Lee

Cute elephants!

Is there any way you can have a separate listing for each price? I think it would be less confusing for buyers, especially because I am pretty sure that buyers do not always read the whole product description (my buyers, for example, never use the coupon codes at the bottom of the page).

I think its classed as fee avoidance if you were to have different prices and invoiced off Etsy for the difference as they wouldn't be getting their percentage for the selling price.

What she said!

I think you're asking for more headaches by having it set up the way you do. I'd set up three separate listings for each type of elephant with their individual prices. That way there's no surprises for the buyer who doesn't read.

Re: can anyone look at my listing please

Yep just wanted to add, you run the risk of angry customers this way. It is very common for people to either not read the listing properly, get very confused etc etc. separate listings with links to each listing in the description will be far easier :-)

Very cute elephant by the way!!

Re: can anyone look at my listing please

thanks joanne a quick question i understand that i should create seperate listings but i only have one elephant per fabric design if i have three listings for one fabric design can i then terminate the other two listings...and if i do would i get my money back or does the listing fee still stand?

Re: can anyone look at my listing please

You could deactivate them when one sells yes. You wouldn't get any money back though.

Alternatively when the one you have sells you could renew that listing and then add to each of the three listings a line saying you will make the elephant to order, and quote how long it will take.

Hope that helps :-)

Re: can anyone look at my listing please

If you only have one elephant of each, I wouldn't do 3 listings as that will get complicated for you, what if you don't see the sale for a while and someone buys the other one? I also would not have price differences in the listing and expect the buyer to see that.

What I would do in your case is price your elephant at the highest price and offer name and birthdate to them as an optional extra for 'free' using the listing variations. Your highest price is still a fair price even if they don't get the name and birthdate. This would make life easier for you and potentially bring you a little more income if they decide not to get the customizations.

If your elephants were ones you could repeat easily, then I would do the 3 listings, but if you only have one elephant to sell of each fabric making 3 listings could make life harder for you and cost you more in those listing fees. I believe it is against the TOU to change the listing to a whole new product when you renew or relist, so changing the pic and description to a new item when you deactivate extra ones doesn't look too good (what if someone favorited that elephant and now all of a sudden the pic changes on them?). If they are one offs, I think you should only have one listing.

Good luck!
Rachel

Re: can anyone look at my listing please

Just state in the listings that the item is made to order. (if that's possible for you)
