am i in the clear?

hello everyone, lately I've been crafting mother's day cards, one of which features a few heroes. Some people like the card but one person noted that i might need a license to use them. I asked Papersource since that's where I get most of my material and they told me they have a clause allowing crafter to use their materials for profit. I also searched Etsy for hero cards and found several featuring heroes and knock-offs, so should i take the card down or am i in the clear????

If they have a clause allowing crafters to use their materials for profit, I don't think that should be an issue.

Re: am i in the clear?

Hi Ligea, do you mean that your material (aka the hero character or quote that you're writing/drawing on your cards) is replicated from other Papersource products or that you are drawing on Papersource paper/cardstock?

If it's the latter, then Papersource isn't the right people to ask for permission. But if it's the former, then that gets a little trickier... because that clause sounds like they're allowing crafters to use their physical materials in a transformative manner (aka to make something with), and then sell that final product... not so much that you'd take their intellectual property without paying for it, and then make your own version.

Hope that makes sense!
