I make YouTube videos for some of my items. Most of them are for items that I had on eBay when I was selling on there. Seeing how successful this is, I really should be making more of them.

I have some videos with thousands of views, the most being about 27,000 views. It seemed a shame not to throw my Etsy shop link on there. I put my Etsy link on most of my videos yesterday, and, according to Etsy Shop Stats, I'm already getting hits from YouTube.

nice! What kind of camera did you use to shoot it? Did you use a tripod? I've been thinking about making you tube videos related to some of my stationery like "How to line envelopes" or something like that

I don't remember if I used a tripod on this particular video. I know on most of them, I didn't, and some of them are really bad, yet did a good job of pulling in the views. For a how-to video, though, I think it would need to be better. I just used the video setting on my regular camera.

I think how-to videos related to weddings would be a GREAT promo for your shop, even if they aren't necessarily related to stationery.

laura~I'm so happy to see this thread! I just made a video the other day to post on YouTube and am hoping to make it a regular scenario as far as advertising and getting the word out.

@roguegirlvintage: I'd suggest using the same SEO techniques you've learned for your Etsy shop on YouTube. Some of my things got lots of views simply because mine was the only video of the topic, as I had no clue about SEO when I made them.

I embedded them into my eBay listings, but Etsy does not allow that, and anyway, when the listing has ended, it no longer helps. Etsy DOES allow you to post a link, link in this listing: http://www.etsy.com/listing/76651890/yamaha-trumpet-ytr2320?ga_search_query=trumpet&ga_search_type=u...

You can post videos on your Facebook pages, both personal and business.

I'd try to offer a video no one else is offering. The success some of my videos have achieved really surprises me. I'm really no expert on this at all, but hadn't seen anyone else suggest this on ES forum yet, so thought I'd throw it out there. Maybe there are others who know more about this who will chime in.

Now, I wish I knew how to make a GOOD quality video. Many of the ones I've made are so bad, they're really kind of embarrassing.

Regarding quality, I figure it will come with practice. I think it's worse to wait for the perfect vid.

What a great idea! I've been meaning to make a cool video of myself making beads for a couple of years- figured my customers would find it entertaining. I've GOT to figure this stuff out!

@FeFiFoFunFairyTales: I think a YouTube video would help a shop like yours a great deal! I had fun listening to you read your the story. Another idea that might be good for you is making a package of ALL of your fairy tales, a sort of value pack.

Also, it might sound kind of anachronistic, but some people have cassette players in their cars and don't have anything to play on them, for their kids to listen to on trips. You can't even check out cassettes from the library anymore, so *perhaps* you might be able to sell cassettes--I'm sure it's an empty niche market, which would help for people to be able to find you by Googling.

Thank you for checking it out! Yes, I do have all of our tutorials listed on our profile page as well as on the individual item listings! I love the tutorials that have been made for us! Having them out in the blog world bring us many, many views and sales!

@EviesToolEmporium : But....You want them to be able to get back to your shop easily once they've seen the video, and also, for those who originally found you on YouTube to be able to quickly and easily to get to your shop for the first time. You are potentially missing out on customers by not having a link on YouTube going directly to your shop. You can edit the YouTube video description to add this info, and you'll start getting a bunch of hits from YouTube. Right now, you have links to your videos in your Etsy listings and in your blog, but not a clickable link on your YouTube videos that leads to your shop.
