Yikes!... I think I have a problem...

Sooo.. I'm currently not sure how to proceed - I recently had a custom order placed, and sent the custom sample to the customer - it was a very time-consuming digital design, and somehow it has disappeared from my computer! Unfortunately and stupidly, I only printed and created the one sample I sent out, and the time has come to complete the full order... I'm very big on having my samples be exactly what the customer will receive, so although I've worked all day to create the same design as closely as possible to how it looks in the photos, chances are it is going to be slightly off, and I have nothing other than photos to compare it to - I'm trying not to freak out, and hoping I can get some suggestions...

Here are the only 2 options I've come up with and I'm not satisfied with either, but here goes..
- I could explain to the customer honestly and up front that the design somehow didn't save and I created the best duplicate possible and can complete the order with this design...
.....Or.....
- I could explain the to the customer honestly and up front what happened and see if they wouldn't mind sending the sample back for me to have to compare (I'd obviously cover shipping charges)

Either way I kinda feel like I may have screwed this one up.. So any thoughts or suggestions will be so very appreciated!

did you save it and somehow it disappeared? cause if its just lost in your computer somewhere im sure you will be able to find it. if you didnt save it though thats another story...

what did the customer think of the sample you sent?

if it comes down to it, i would just be honest, tell them what happened and ask that they either send it back, or (i dont know if this is an option) scan and email or fax the sample. that way you wouldnt have to worry about additional shipping charges.

I did save it - but I must have done something wrong because somehow it saved it as a copy and as a smaller size - so in order to make it the right size it blows it way up and unclear - so I tried my best to recreate it using that and the photos I took of it.

The customer loved the sample and ended up placing a very large order, which doesn't make my level of stress any better...

Based on what I have, the second creation won't be but slightly off, but I'd hate to send them out and have her be disappointed... I think I'll just honestly explain what happened, and see which option she would prefer...
