Year Round Holiday Listings?

I'm relatively new to Etsy and still figuring things out. One of the things I was wondering was do you keep up your holiday listings year round? I have some cards and ornaments up and was going to keep them up until the expire. I was trying to decide it would be worth renewing them for the rest of the year, or just renew them at the start of fall. Or does letting them expire and keeping them down for a few months make it harder to get found again in fall? I know people do buy holiday stuff year round. I did a summer show at the start of August where I had a few holiday things that sold. Just wondering about any of your experiences and thoughts :)

Re: Year Round Holiday Listings?

I usually leave them up at let them expire, and then I'll renew them in July for the Christmas in July sale and leave them up. I've sold Christmas jewelry in August, so it's not as crazy as it sounds. But I don't generally leave it up year round.

Re: Year Round Holiday Listings?

You paid for listing them 4 months, so you could at least keep them up untill they expire.

Re: Year Round Holiday Listings?

If I were you I would leave them in your shop.

I did most of my Etsy 'holiday' shopping during the summer and it was sometimes hard to find just the 'right' holiday items.

Re: Year Round Holiday Listings?

I have always reduced my prices, having a 'sale' on them for the end of the holiday, until they expire. Then relist them, with the higher price, come October sometime. Sometimes it works well, sometimes not, but that is what I do. I normally sell my Christmas stuff when I do put it on sale, and clearly sate that it is clearance, so....

I would leave them up - I get orders year round for Christmas Floppies - and the inquiries I have between now and July are for large numbers (10-30) for entire extended families. Without the listings those folks would never have found me ! I already have orders for Nov. 2014 delivery from folks who have ordered in the past. Some folks DO plan ahead :)

Re: Year Round Holiday Listings?

I've only been doing this for a year. Last year I let the listings expire then renewed in October. I think this year I'll do the same but renew in July, then again in October. Most of my Christmas card sets didn't sell and I'm going to rethink whether to try to sell them as sets again or as individual cards with a discount given on multiples ( a "create your own set" deal).

Re: Year Round Holiday Listings?

I don't really have any "holiday" listings, but I would leave them up year round if I did. I know of several people who start Christmas shopping early. I work with a lady who was done Christmas shopping by August!!

Re: Year Round Holiday Listings?

Thank you for your responses! Sorry for a bit of a delay. Right now its hard to respond/get online- something to do with that ice storm that hit Mid-Michigan that knocked out power (along with a lot of trees) and won't be up till about the 28th probably :(
I'll definitely keep them up till they expire, but then just play it by ear and see how I feel once they do :) It seems like a lot of figuring things out on Etsy is just from person to person and takes time to see what works best for you.
