scratchtrapped is referring to search ads, not shop stats. In other words, after spending $4.54 in advertising, the shop has gotten 16 views from that advertising, and no sales. Hope that helps.

I think this is turning into a failed experiment. Before ads, I average views in the double digits on a given day. Not much I know, but today NOT ONE VIEW. How is that even possible? I'm not talking about just views from ads, I'm talking about regular shop stats. What does this mean? do my items only show up in searches for keywords that I am promoting through search ads? Are my tags now obsolete because of search ads? It doesn't make sense to me. And please don't direct me to the videos. Unless there has been a new one posted, they don't really address this.

Now you make me pause. I was about to give my sporadically earned cash to the Search Ads, then... wait the minute.... You are saying it MAY NOT work. Nothing is magic pill, I know because it takes me month to get customers. And it's just... trickling in, gently, like a mini water fountain. Aaaah...

I havent signed up for it but what i've seen so far doesn't make me want to spend money on it.

I've been doing searches for some of my listings just to see how they stack up and if I search for yellow beaded earring, all the ads that come up don't even have yellow in them? What the ? I thought relevancy was what they wanted, not whoever can afford to spend the most.

I still don't understand what they are trying to do.

No you cannot add your own keywords only those suggested by Etsy. You can go to the end of keywords that you have and see if there is an option to add keywords, but they would only be the ones that Etsy has chosen not that you can add.

I just changed mine to stop after a week-- I have spent about $2 so far, only had 17 views and no favorites or sales :( Was not going to waste another $5 next week on the same thing!

I tweaked my tags today and think that's what generated a few sales. For now, I am going to stick with what works and wait for the ads to start becoming meaningful for business before I jump back in!

I only spent five bucks, but I don't think I will again. I've only gotten 5 views from adds, all the rest are search and categories... I think relevancy still holds sway over what people will click on and add to favorites regardless of which items are at the very top of the page via adds. Ugh, I'm just tired of it all to be honest!!!
