I listed three new items yesterday...and I'm dumbfounded as to why I have had ZERO views? (it's possible that one item had two views, but C'MON)!!! What is up with that? I'm trying to NOT focus on views...but if nobody is 'viewing', then what's the point? :::sigh::: :(

Hi Judy.

It has happened to me. You may want to check your titles and tags so you are getting seen in search. Also - mother's day shopping is primarily done now so this time of year is always a bit of a slow down I have learned.

Are you advertising them?

I get very few views from etsy just on it's own....maybe 3-5% at best.

Hit stumble...pin it...heart it...FB it...and twitter it. put it up on things people make, etsy lush...blast it across the promotion teams ect ect ect.

Etsy doesnt work for you, esty doesnt advertise for you. Dont make the mistake in thinking that it does.

Breanna, when it comes to stumble upon, would you say you promote just your shop, a few items, or all of your items?

I made four new listings yesterday and my views have been down on last week, I just checked the stats and I have had admirers but no views on three of the items, I dont understand the logic of that. I am covering the first three pages with my hats so I am happy with that and I did make one more sale yesterday, so I cant complain. I always seem to make a sale when my views are down!

Just check your tags, titles, etc and promote, that's best than just waiting :)

It happens to me too.. I don't get why...even if i copied one of my listing that hits the home page (that's good sign?) ..the new item listing could still be ...zero.

I know that Etsy doesn't advertise for us. But I've listed items and at least started with maybe 10 views...but ZERO? Ok, I will pin myself (under "shameless self-promotion"!!) ... But Breanna, 'heart' my own items? I've never done that. (this conversation is getting into some 'interesting' undertones, lol). But seriously...do you all heart yourselves?

I've never heard of hearting yourself and I thought that pinterest and stumbleupon frowned upon people promoting themselves...?

With almost every new item I post, I "pin" it, "tweet" it, and put it in a Facebook album with all my other items. I don't create new items every day, so I try not to be annoying about it (maybe I still am...haha), but at least it gets the ball rolling a little. Usually though, most the people that look at it from social media sites aren't interested in buying it.

What everyone says about tags is true, I have been fixing all of my tags, and my views have been going way up again! I think it also takes awhile for your new stuff to start showing up when people search. I'm pretty new at this, so I wish I could help more!

I think that promotion will definitely help, but I think that your key problem is your tags, titles and descriptions.

At the moment your items are definitely not optimised for the relevancy search. I'm pretty certain that is why you are not getting found.

You want your first 2 or 3 words of the title to be a searchable phrase that is popularly used. You can check whether searches are popular by typing them into the search bar. Popular searches will be displayed in the drop down menu. So try typing in the first three words you are currently using for each of your items. For example 'Designer purse earrings' does not come up. But 'enamel earrings' 'pink and green earrings' 'cute earrings' all come up.

Repeat the phrase in the first sentence of your description, and try and build other keywords that describe your item into the description too.

Then repeat the key phrases in the tags. I see that you have tagged some of your pieces with promotional team tags. My guess is that if you are not getting many views, that strategy is not working for you. Concentrate on getting as many relevant 2-3 word phrases into your tags as possible.

Promoting via wanelo, pinterest, weheartit etc can definitely work too, as long as you are engaged with the sites and pinning other's things, not just going there occasionally and pinning a couple of things of yours and then leaving!

Pinterest does allow you to self-promote but not spam. This changed since the site started, largely because of Etsy. I stumble every item and have never had a problem. Stumbleupon is so large though, even if it is against TOS (I don't think it is, but could be wrong) it's harder for them to police than even Etsy.

Judy, I really think some title ands tagging work can help you.

look at this lovely new item in your shop for example

maybe consider a title such as Multicolor Crystal Anklet with Ohm Charm
get the words about color and anklet out front to be seen straight away

then look at your tags. you have a lot of valuable tag real estate going to a variety of teams. can you maybe just tag a few items in your shop and use that for your listing?

then you also have a lot of one word tags. try to tag like a shopper. see my thread here for tagging tips

I should also have said that tweaking titles and tags, as big a task as that is (and as annoying), is really the answer to getting more views. I went through the process with the SEO Team, learned a lot and have now titled as advised. It's not as poetic as I would like (and I would like poetic!), but it reall has in some cases tripled and quadrupled my views.

I started with just a few changed titles and tags to see what happened, using my stats as a guide. When I saw them start to rise, I changed a few more, and they kept rising. This week, I think I finally have almost everything re-titled and re-tagged. It's been a huge job, but well worth the results.

I've had a bunch of sales this week too. I can't say that that' specifically due to the better views, but it seems so.

Feel free to hang around my shop and look at titles. But, most of all, get yourself to Mary and her helpers at SEO. They will give you the tools you need to understand search engine optimization.

As for the other issue you commented on my FB page, I don't have time to explain it right now. I'm trying to get organized, as you know, to nead north for awhile, and now have to deal with this FB harrassment issue. Just stay away from anyone on Etsy who claims to increase your views until Etsy has figured out how to deal with this person (or persons).

Wow. I really thought that I had tweaked my titles and tags (I worked hard!!)...AND I thought I was using "compound tags" (like green crystal earrings, colorful anklet) or whatever. Sometimes it's difficult because the words you really want to use just DON't FIT. Anyway, it looks like I still have tons of work to do. :::sigh::: Thank you so much (((everyone))) for your advice and suggestions. Thanks to everyone who hearted and pinned my items as well...it definitely helped. And I will DEFINITELY join the Relevancy and SEO Team. Hopefully, that will help. (I think it will.)
