Why is this month so slow?

I know its slow, and I know a ton of people are experiencing this, but why is june such an odd month? one would think it would go up with high school graduation gift and the typical "june wedding" purchases and such ;/

For a huge part of America at least, summer is getting out and doing lawn work, repairing the house, going on trips and if you have children,well...
Summer camp, swimming, biking , camping and so on.

Generally this is what people spend their money on in the summer. for almost everyone there is only so much money to spend on extras. If it is going towards garden and home repair plus extra for travel and children it doesn't always leave a lot for the things like most of us sell.

Exactly as Teresa said. Plus, most weddings are taking place now so really your wedding sales would be earlier in the year. Buying stuff online now would be too late. I tend to get the wedding sales in Dec-Jan-Feb time frame.

Same with graduation gifts, you would see those sales earlier in the spring. Now is a lull basically in between seasons. July gets a boost if you have a Christmas in July promo or holiday items.

Late summer usually sees Halloween stuff start to gear up, September starts the Christmas season, etc. By december, people are already looking at Valentine's day or spring items, etc.

So everything usually sells a couple months BEFORE the actual holiday, event. Unfortunately for June, it's just an "in-between" month where people are more focused on being outside than online shopping.

I agree with Teresa and Diana.
And since I'm in Belgium and most of my customers are in the US, shipping times are a bit longer and my customers certainly have to buy in time for Holidays and other occasions.
I use slow months like June to work on stock for the second half of the year.

Things will probably still be slow in July for all the reasons stated above. Back to school will start up in August so anything for kids, students and teachers should get a boost in sales.

I should be doing my best right now. But it's coming up as one of my worst months in years.

I think it's because so many shops have popped up in recent months selling similar items to mine. I'm just lost amongst all the other sellers now.

Last year it actually picked up in June and it's doing the exact opposite this year. Blahhh...
