Why doesn't Etsy link the shop to the feedback?

Sometimes I look at the feedback of buyers and/or shop owners and if they raved about an item they purchased, I am left wondering what item is was and what shop it was from.

Why doesn't Etsy share what item the buyer is talking about in their feedback?? What if someone else would want to purchase from that shop? It's like free promotion for your shop, too!

Has anyone else noticed this?

That would violate the buyer's privacy.

Total violation of privacy. Same reason I don't put buyer's real name in a listing title.

I don't see it as violation of privacy at all. I also sell on eBay, where you can look at feedback and see exactly what the person has purchased (unless the seller selected "private listing" when they originally wrote the listing).

If a buyer doesn't want people to know what they purchased, they can simply avoid leaving feedback.

There was a HUGE debacle surrounding feedback a couple of years ago - in response, Etsy made ALL buyer feedback private, period, with no option to make it public.

I understand the need for privacy, I get that. But some parts of the totally private feedback actually hurt sellers.

At one point in time it was possible to see feedback left by the seller for items they had sold, items they had purchased as well as feedback from their customers.

But after a rather heated privacy debate, most feedback was made private.

Hopefully in the near future Etsy will completely revamp the feedback process as right now its almost impossible for a seller to be able to leave feedback when there are multiple pages to do.
