Hey y'all, Im just really frustrated with the dirt cheap prices some shop owners sell their hand made creations for. So much time, never mind cost of materials, goes into each product I do not know how they even make any money at the end of the day? Plus it makes the rest of us pricing accordingly look like money grubbers trying to get ever cent we can instead of a minor profit.

Not sure what Im looking for but needed to vent.

Re: Why do they do this??

Another pricing thought that works for some people is to look at the prices of similar items, keep what you charge, or would like to charge, in mind; then find others' similar work that is both lower and higher in price than yours, average out a few of those prices, and charge the average if you think it sounds about right to what you originally thought.

Re: Why do they do this??

Thanks for the discussion. I am new and starting out. I'm still experimenting with my pricing structure, but I include things like: area that I live in, the cost of my materials, creative concept, how hard and how long it took me to complete a given project, quality of course, and also consider how much more I intend to improve my work. I also think about the shipping cost and I haven't been doing so hot with that part.

I'm also a body worker and have had to learn about pricing myself, which is very connected to one's self worth. It can really depend on where one is at mentally, spiritually etc. But, if one wants to run a business one must deal with money and earn what they are truly worth.
