Why are our views so low? What are we doing wrong? Is Etsy the right place for us?

Our views are low (15/day) and we have virtually no sales.
We have polished the shop, (decent photos, item titles, descriptions etc.)
We do have a fair amount of SEO work to do still but are coming up in the first page of search results for dog toys and fifth page for cat toys and folks still are not visiting.

All advice, criticism and thoughts would be welcome and appreciated.

Mines the same with my shop. You can ask for shop critiques from Etsy users which is helpful. Maybe your prices are too high? What do you mean by SEO?
good luck,
Jemma :-)

Hello!
I had a brief look at your shop and looked at a couple of items. I am not a pet owner myself, but I think your toys are very cute. Keep working on your SEO, your tags and title look good but it's always a good idea to keep tweeking it. Have you thought about shipping internationally? It would open up a bigger market. And the shipping wouldn't cost much either as the items are small.

Hope this helps a bit! :)

CritterProject,

You have some really cute items! I'm no expert by any means, but I keep my views up by listing or relisting at least once a day....because recency still has a bearing in relevancy. Reworking item tags and titles is also really helpful. You can find what works by looking at your shop stats to see how people are finding your items. Also, if you start to type in a search for your item in the main search box, you will see a drop down list come up and it will have more ideas on tags for your items. By looking through the merchandising posts, shopping pages, and Etsy Finds emails, you can also find a lot of good keywords and phrases to include in your titles and tags...this I found to be really helpful with views.

One thing I noticed about your tags is a LOT of them are one word tags. I've heard one word tags are less effective, because most of the time people don't type into a search bar "catnip," unless they're looking specifically for catnip, and they dont type in just "plush" if they're looking for a cat toy. "Plush cat toy," "plush catnip toy," etc are generally more effective.

This listing, for example:

Tags like "colorful," "stripe," and "print" aren't relevant, IMHO.

Keep an eye on what search terms have brought people to your shop's items in the past and rework your tags around those.
