Why are my shop views down?

I love the new Dashboard feature on Etsy! It's so great! But, it has unfortunately opened my eyes to some disappointing news; my shop views have dramatically dropped since last year. Any help as to why this has happened? I have more items in my shop than ever before and have been doing a lot of work to improve my shop photos. I recently created a facebook page for my shop and have created a tumblr, twitter and instagram since last year. Kind of confused?! Thanks for your help and support!

I've just had a look at your shop and you have really cute items. Your photos are great. Im not getting that many views either, despite posting regularly on twitter, facebook, tumblr etc. I'm sure things will pick up soon, after the children go back to school.

Competition gets tougher every year (month, week).
So to get the same amount of views/sales, you need to work harder to stand out from the crowd.

Your shop looks great and your photos are lovely! Not sure i can explain the trend you are seeing.

Now that you've got a Facebook page you could always try facebook advertising? It's not that expensive and you can be very specific on your target market, how much you want to spend and for how long you want to advertise.

As BeaG says I think it's about constantly working harder to drive traffic to our shops.

Yes I think you're right, there is such massive competition, it seems to get harder all the time. I feel the only way to stay in the game is to constantly improve, however finding the time to make these changes is hard :o( It kind of upsets me that the people who are the busiest have the most difficulties with views, sales etc, there has to be a better way?

Also I get the feeling that Etsy changes the most relevent keywords, or their priority in the search, and I'm constantly tweaking, to find my items, arghhhh lol.

I hope it gets better for everyone :o)

Etsy favors popular listings with high repeat sales as well as many hearts/favorites and shows these in the first few pages of Relevancy search results - where all the shoppers are. New shops and less popular listings are included now and then in the first few pages but unless these shops start making a lot of sales, they get pushed further back where few shoppers look.

You can try your own test by searching for "crochet necklace" and see where your listings come up in the search results.

Start making a lot of sales by promoting outside of Etsy and your listings will be seen more and more in Relevancy search results.
