Why Hasn't This SOLD??

This beautiful cowl in my shop has 46 admirers and is in 11 treasury lists.. It's been in my shop for a while so what's wrong? Should I raise the price? Re-do the pictures?? I cannot go lower in the price due to the custom yarn used. Is it just waiting for that special buyer? Some honest feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)

It's a beautiful piece. I am sure your right, the perfect customer has not come along yet. Maybe add a new picture, yours are fine but it might help it from becoming a little road weary.

I see you renewed it yesterday, so I'll assume it was also listed in the spring? I don't know about anyone else but I don't consider buying scarves and cold weather items until around October or so. It's just too hot right now.

Hmmm..Natasha I was thinking of refreshing several pictures in my shop....I definitely agree that if it's presented a little differently it may help.

The cowl is beautiful, really. I am in love with the yarn. The price reflects the yarn and workmanship. The perfect buyer will come around. Patience! :)

oh it's gorgeous!! If I was still living where it's cold (I'm in FL) I would buy it!! Your pictures are ok...but maybe take fresh ones? Perhaps a different background color? (If you have a piece of blue fabric to hang in the background it might help it to "pop" more.)

Judy, that could be the case but I have noticed many other shops that sell knitwear selling their winter pieces during the summer. There are customers who shop for winter items from other countries...who are experiencing their winter months now.

From my own experience and from reading others experiences, items that others love can sit in a shop for years without being bought. The afghan in my profile pic has 134 admirers and is in 14 treasury lists and it hasn't sold. If you want to try and get it sold, you can always work on pictures, tags, and the title. My philosophy is those things can always be improved, and changing the tags can bring in a whole new group of people using search who might buy your item. Just don't change them all at once, else if your views on that item go down significantly you won't know how to fix it.

I have created a thread like this in the past, and many people told me that once it gets colder outside and holiday shopping starts that my things would start selling much more regularly. I'm sure it will be the same with you! Good luck!

What a beautiful cowl!! It is 104 degrees where I live today, so needless to say not a lot of people are looking for warm weather items here...BUT soon everyone will be looking and someone surely will buy this amazing piece.

No problem. :) Your shop as a whole is amazing... I wish I had as big as an inventory as you do! And all of them are so pretty and well made! I have so many unfinished projects here in my house, then so many other ideas I don't have yarn for yet, I almost feel like I'm drowning in them. There is just not enough time! I love crocheting but it would be nice if it didn't take as much time as it did. :P

Alisa I KNOW what you mean hehe.. I try not to make anything new until I have finished a project. A lot of the items in my shop are made to order and are photos of past custom orders that have relisted. Believe me...it takes a lot of time to build up inventory...but oh so much fun! ;-)

I think it's a seasonal thing....the sales on my knitting stich markers has really slowed now that it's so hot out. I'm still plugging along, though - actually ordered supplies in to make about 200 more sets. lol.

2 words - COLD WEATHER.

Come October, November when people are shopping for holidays, or for cold weather outfits, I am sure someone will snap it up!

If you have good photos (which you do) and good SEO (which you seem to) - it'll show up at the right time and impress someone, I am sure. :D

You just have to have a lot of patience. It's true that maybe perhaps it hasn't sold because it's the summer. Wait until fall. I'm positive it will sell. It's a beautiful piece and I love it myself.

I could put my whole shop in the forum and ask the same question, but no one really knows the answer. I assume the right customers are not on this site, but that is too easy an answer. Perhaps it is my fault in some way, but whatever, your piece is stunning and it is getting closer to fall. I am sure someone will come along and appreciate its beauty.

There are a lot of items on Etsy, eventually it may sell, or it may not. It may be that you haven't found the right buyer,the colors may not seem wearable to some, or that potential buyers haven't thought it was something they would actually wear or would look good on them, at least not enough to justify the price. Not that you should lower the price, but a buyer has to want what you have at the price you are offering. Maybe expand into other venues, such as local boutiques?

My theory is to create what you love and think is beautiful, offer it at reasonable prices (this means reasonable to you as a seller as well-giving you fair compensation for materials and your time), and create as many of the best listings you can. Hopefully the buyers will come..and if not, promote and consider expanding into multiple venues.

Love your shop. The colors you use in your designs are stunning. Several months ago I posted a similar question about my book pendant which had lots of views, favorites and treasures .. Yet not one buyer. Someone suggested that I redo my pictures and what do you know, several weeks later I had my first sale. Since then, I have sold and renewed this item several times. Perhapes switch up your first picture as we head into the fall months and keep updating your tags and titles. The right buyer is bound to come along. Good luck.
