Which printer to purchase....

Hello all. If you look at my shop, you'll see that I sell seeds. Not only do I sell the seeds, but I put them in a little business card sized paper envelope and hand stamp the name of the seeds on the outside.

What I'd like to do is print the instructions for planting on the reverse of the packet, so I can stop hand writing it. It would look more professional printed - and take me much less time!

Could anyone recommend a priner you like for printing something like this? Years ago, I worked for a printer/wedding invitation place and they found that the cheaper the printer, the better they were - but now things may have changed.

I'm also going to be selling my hand spun yarns at two local shops in town and will need to print out bands for them.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S.... I'm thinking of shopping around and trying to research if any stores will have "Black Friday" specials......

I would think that it's more the program you create from than the printer that would accomplish what you want. I just got a new Kodak wireless printer and although it's a bit noisy, I do like it - the copies are great and so far it's glitch free and has the cheapest ink cartridges out there.

Re: Which printer to purchase....

I agree with Terri, printers are all good enough now that it's more the software you use for creating what it to be printed that determines the quality.

Lifetime cost of the printer is probably the most important thing, ink jet printers cost the least to buy but ink cartridges are expensive and don't last long. I am incredibly happy with my laser printer, it cost more than an inkjet but I've already made up more than the cost difference in ink costs, toner cartridges last a very long time.

I love my HP Photosmart printer...great for other things too like scanning old photos. However it really is the programs you use that matter not the printer, I have quite a few I use that are built in to my computer system...WORKS which allows me to create any size document such as my coupons I send with orders, address labels, shipping labels, brochures, post card size items, greeting cards etc..

I second Alona, I plan on purchasing an HP Photosmart printer soon based on reviews I have read in Consumer Reports.

Re: Which printer to purchase....

just when you go buy a printer make sure it can fit your small envelopes.
Most printers only print to 3.25 smallest size I know that our printers can handle.

You could also make a custom stamp with the instructions on the stamps if you can get it to work on the printer. :)
