Which is better? Input please

So, I understand the value and importance of teams, but...its almost so easy to get lost in them, you know? So here is my question.
Is it better to be a member of a lot of teams that you barely have enough time to really participate in, or to be a member of fewer teams and actually be able to do somethng besides post a link once a week?

I started off being a member in a lot of teams, but many of them were not nearly as active as this one. I prefer being in a few teams that have active members and new things that I can come read every day, and I know that in those teams if I have a question it will be answered and not just sit around in a post for weeks.

I'd find a good promotional team that deals with outside promotiong aswell. Don't rely on posting item links with in a team and hope for sales. So I'd stick with one or two.

I run a UK promotion team. We have 4-5 major sales/promotions each year and we also run twitter hours every tuesday/thursday and push people to take the plunge and send items off to magazines, blogs etc etc

I also started off in a lot of teams. I joined all the local ones, and soon starting leaving them when I realized they were very inactive. No point in being in a team if there's no one to talk to!

I haven't played around with promotions teams, so I can't speak on that. But the very active teams I am in host their own craft shows, make team coupon books, etc. So there is opportunity to further your reach that way, and feel like you're involved.

Thanks for asking! I've been wondering that myself. I do often feel like its hard to make connections and friends in big teams but then again the smaller ones are much less active.

Thank you all for the input. This seems to confirm to me what my mind was already thinking LOL. I'd been joining a lot of teams to help grow things like my facebook and twitter but.. I just don't have time to participate in all of them if I intend to have anything to sell LOL
