Where do you add your fee cost?

When you post an item do you put the cost of posting your item and PayPal in the shipping cost or in the item cost.

I have been putting it in the shipping cost and had a customer comment that her shipping was not what she paid.

All thoughts will be helpful. Thank you!

Re: Where do you add your fee cost?

I add those costs into the cost of the item. People get hinky over shipping - I for one feel gouged when I see the cost of an item as reasonable, and then when I get to the shipping, know that a company is making up the cost in the shipping and handling - point in case, I went to buy jute the other day, found it on-line, reasonably priced - $6.00 + for two spools - but the shipping was over $10.00 - I immediately backed out of that! As I do a lot of shipping, I know it wouldn't have cost more than $3.00 to ship that pkg. It feels like I'm being cheated. That's just my opinion as a shopper.

Re: Where do you add your fee cost?

I agree -- put the extra cost into the item. While people understand paying shipping is part of buying online, no one wants to overpay on shipping.

Re: Where do you add your fee cost?

I agree ... technically those sales and marketing costs should be absorbed in the price of your item ... shipping is just for shipping

Re: Where do you add your fee cost?

I figure mine into the cost of the item. That way I don't get complaints about high shipping prices.

Re: Where do you add your fee cost?

I also add the fees to my item. I estimate my shipping and when I'm over by $1 or more I refund the excess.

I buy a lot of my supplies online and I, too, know what reasonable shipping should be and I immediately leave any online shop that has outrageous shipping fees. It's that shop's loss to over inflate shipping and lose a possible customer.

My opinion as an online shopper is that a seller should not be making money on shipping.
