When you search for art

Do you just browse and find something that strikes you? I find that it seems most people do. That makes titles really tough.

Do you ever shop by size, color, medium or subject?

Just wanting some opinions on this. I hardly know what to do seo-wise any more.

Thanks for your time!

Re: When you search for art

In my shop search, people tend to find subject or medium first, a few by size ( like small painting, 8x10 for example). I paint oil and the most searches are for oil painting or for landscape or flower, some specify rose, poppies etc. Hope it helps for your information.

Re: When you search for art

I just do whatever I can to filter out all the prints, because i'm usually interested in finding originals and it can be so tough here.

Honestly, the more I can tell from that short title/thumbnail, the more likely I am to click. I browse listings and if I can see that it's a 12x16 original acrylic on canvas I'm like "woo hoo, a score!" otherwise I'm asking myself okay... is the art shown in the photo cool enough to go do the detective work to see what this thing really is?

Re: When you search for art

I'd like to know this too!! It also seems like originals get more attention than prints (favs and views), at least it my shop. Also..when people are searching they usually always mash a bunch of words together. Not always, sometimes it's more simple words, but for example...today someone stumbled on my peacock painting by searching with the words "peacock chinese painting". If that's not a mouthful idk what is.

Re: When you search for art

Anyone ever note down the keywords from shop stats? I just did a week ago, found some interesting words.

Re: When you search for art

I tend to search by medium and subject. If I have an overwhelming selection, I'll add a color or palette to my search terms.

Re: When you search for art

It depends...Sometimes I just browse, and sometimes I search by subject or medium. I've never searched by size or color, though.

Re: When you search for art

"Original art" seems to have the best results for me, sometimes a popular topic will work. (bikes or dandelions)
