When to open a second shop?

I have just started offering a product that is new to my shop, one that I feel 'doesn't belong' necessarily. I make magnetic bookmarks, recipe books, and memory games. Now I am offering instant download prints of some of my bookmark designs. I have over 400 items in my shop currently as well, so I am wondering if it is advantageous to open a second shop or if it is better to stick with one. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I personally feel your shop is fine the way it is. I think it is nice you can offer so much, but yet still be cohesive.

Re: When to open a second shop?

Thanks for bringing this up! I am planning on opening a second shop - my first one is for my fine art prints, but I wanted a separate store for the POD clothing and accessories I create from my art. It just seems to me like they need separate stores, so I understand your concern, Lisa.

Re: When to open a second shop?

I've been wondering this myself.. A lot of the shops I have seen that are very successful have a pin point focus on a particular style, or product. I have always made whatever inspires me at the time but I want to be more deliberate in my target audience and products.

I always think back to a saying that if you market to everyone, you are marketing to no one.

But I'm feeling stuck because I don't know if I should narrow down my style, or open a second shop. I have realised that the people who like my floral jewellery probably don't like my steampunk stuff and vice versa. But I haven't had enough sales to know what is more popular and what to focus on. I would be interested to hear the responses to this thread

It is really tough! Elizabeth, I am glad that you think that my shop is cohesive; that is nice feedback to hear! I want to branch out and have more to offer to hopefully bolster sales, but I don't want to get *too* wild lol.
